Anybody have any handy tips...........

Tips regarding new uses for household items. Or any tips. Several days ago I ran across a tip on TV: Instead of buying very tiny containers of colored sugar sprinkles (to decorate sugar cookies, cupcakes, frosting, etc.) in the spice department, just mix/shake a bit of food coloring with sugar granules and fill an empty sprinkles/shaker container. They were saying that it's a lot less expensive to make our own colored sugar sprinkles. I haven't yet tried this tip. But it seems to be a great idea! Any other tips??
