The song was popular in 1956.

@halfpint1

"Is a restless wind". Love that song and her voice. Listen to it often in my rather expansive 1950-1960's collections.

She made a lot of us happy with that song. Condolences to all that love this woman.

Thank you for this thread.

@azgal

My mother had the record too.  I remember liking the song.

When I was a very little girl, I remember watching the Ted Mack Amateur Hour. The final act was the previous week's winner. (I think) Frequently it was a singer belting out one of these epic songs with a great melody.  I loved it.

I remember hearing that song on the car radio when I was a kid and always thought Gogi was such a silly name.

Interesting.  I posted that song a few days ago on another thread.  Yes, I remember it and loved it.  RIP, Gogi.

Yes, that especially!

Sometimes I cannot remember what I had for dinner the day before, but I can remember lyrics for so many songs!

In the same vein: do you remember Frankie Laine who sang Rawhide from the TV show back then when the new actor in the series was Clint Eastwood. ???

@qualitygal

I remember Frankie Laine and his very different voice. Know "of the show", but I was working 4-midnight shift and did not see many of the great shows. All my friends talking about "Laugh-in" and I never got to watch it. No VCR until the late 1960's, and only 3 channels. By the time I got home there was nothing but THE Logo on tv.

Did not know Clint was on Rawhide.
