Yes but you did not say anything about parents and grandparents ect.. in this situation, It was a cousin you do not like and an ex-wife or something you see on FB.

Being close to someone's parents or grandparents yes absolutely give as much as you can afford. No question about that.

@beckyb1012 I don't think kids of friends and grandparents should be an automatic invite/gifter to brides they do not know. A wedding should be about the bride and close relatives and friends of theirs, not a reunion of grandparents friends.
