Another passenger missing from a cruise ship!

Good grief.....what are these people doing?......seems like this story pops up all the time. Cruises don't really interest me, but I can't imagine why so many "go missing".

Some include endless free alcohol.

Re: Another passenger missing from a cruise ship!

He didn't exactly go "missing" , he jumped.

A 26-year-old Canadian man is missing after he jumped overboard from a cruise ship on its way to Puerto Rico Saturday night.

The U.S. Coast Guard said Tien Phuoc Nguyen, a Canadian citizen, was travelling with his family on the Royal Caribbean cruise when other passengers saw him jump overboard. The ship was 15 nautical miles east of Mona Island, Puerto Rico's third largest island, at the time.

The cruise line's spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez said in a release the captain stopped the ship and immediately turned around, alerting local authorities. Closed-circuit camera footage shows Nguyen going overboard. Early Sunday morning, the ship was told it could continue on to San Juan, where the seven-night cruise ended.

The Coast Guard said the FBI it is investigating why Nguyen jumped overboard.

Thanks for the whole story.....I didn't catch details when I woke up at 3 a.m. and the bottom of my front tooth broke off.....just caught the headline.

Hulagirl,

Under the circumstances I wouldn't have even caught the headline. Broken tooth on a holiday, ugh. So sorry. Hope you can see your dentist ASAP and that you aren't in pain.

Very few passengers who are missing are from accidents. Either the passenger jumps or it's foul play.I have been on a cruise. I would be more worried with the ship malfunctioning or getting sick from food etc. Every drink you order you have you pay for, unless it's all inclusive (which is rare).

Re: Another passenger missing from a cruise ship!

Sounds like suicide to me. He probably didn't think he would be caught on camera. Late at night on the dark deck of a ship at sea can be mesmerizing. I can understand where someone who was distraught might hear the siren song of the ocean and just go with it.

Thankfully, I have never felt the urge. And I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to hear that the endless supply of alcohol available on board contributed to this tragedy. While it isn't FREE, you don't pay as you go either. You just sign for it and if you don't plan to be around at the end of the cruise, you won't get the bill.

Thanks.....no pain, but I don't look very cute.......I think it will be an easy fix...hopefully, will be able to get in right away. It just sort of broke off when I swallowed....seems my dental office is my second home these days, but in the grand scheme of things, this is small!! Happy New Year!!!!

Suicide is completely different from homicide.

Never heard of any that do. Alcohol sales are typically where they rake in $$$$.
