Re: Another Setback With My Health

@NickNack   If you are feeling bad and the blood pressure is not going down, get to the emergency room.  High blood causes headaches.  Your life is precious.  Don't wait the weekend.

@NickNack, you said at the doctor's office your pulse rate was 121. Has that come down now into a normal range...like below 100?

@pupwhipped  Yes, my pulse rate has been in the 90's since starting blood pressure medicine.

@NickNack I think I remember my husband saying if he doesn't have his coffee he gets a headache so that may be part of the reason for the headache.  I agree you shouldn't

drink coffee right now but keep it in mind as to the headache.  My best wishes for you and hope you can see your doctor Monday.  Keep us up to date and try to forget your health while at your sil tonight.

@m0rgan I've been drinking coffee all along.  I just decided when I started my second cup this morning that I would pour it out and not drink it again until I got my health issues resolved.  My headache started when my blood pressure got so high and I didn't know it was high.

When I started blood pressure medicine it went away.  When the top number gets above 140 my headache starts again.

I'm sure I'll have problems quitting coffee.  I've had two cups a day for years.  It's not that it wakes me up.  I just really like it.

I am so sorry for your health issues. I would call the doctor's office and see if you could leave a message. I know with my health care plan I can send a message through the website.

I was wondering about Frankie? I know you have a Frenchie named Ava. Was that the name of your other dog. I think you are very upset and need to consult with a physician so you can resolve your concerns.

I wish you a Merry Christmas. Please give Ava and Henry a hug. I am sure they are very concerned about you. Please keep us updated.

Thank you @elated .  Thank you for remembering Frankie, too.  She died in April 2020.  She had a brain tumor, and I had to put her to sleep.  It happened very suddenly.  I got Ava shortly after that.  Ava was three years old when I adopted her.

That's a shame that urgent care in your area is like that, we have 2 on the island and I've never waited longer than an hour at either one, including for x-rays.

Do you have a fire dept. anywhere near you? They are always open, no waiting and gladly help citizens assess blood pressure issues.

Luckily, I have a FD less than half a mile away and have gone there when I first started BP meds.

I have a BP monitor at home, but just don't trust their accuracy compared to a professional.

Gives you something nice to look at while they take it too, LOL!

Just kidding and your health issues are nothing to kid about. I was just hoping to help you smile!Heart

@KingstonsMom   The reason for the long wait at all of the Urgent Cares right now is because so many people are coming in for Covid testing.  The ER's are so busy right now due to Covid, too.

My sister's SIL who is a nurse, was at my sister's for dinner tonight, and I was able to talk to her for a little while privately.  She assured me that my blood pressure would be okay at this level until I could talk with my doctor on Monday.  I felt better after that.  She gave me some insight into other things, too.

I told her that I had been having so many random symptoms all summer such as being extremely hot much of the time.  She immediately said that was my adrenal glands.  I think she said it was because they were pressing against my kidneys.  That fits right in with everything that my doctor is testing for and said to me.  I have been so puzzled as to why I am always so hot.  I knew there was a reason but didn't know what it was.

I told my doctor about being hot all the time and several other things.  She did do blood work this summer, but I don't think she had enough information at the time to put everything together.

I knew something was really wrong all summer.  It actually has been a blessing that I had the gastrointestinal issues.  If I hadn't had those I wouldn't have had the colonoscopy.  If I hadn't had such a thorough gastroenterologist that ordered the CT scan I wouldn't have known about the lesion on my kidney.

If I hadn't have had the appointment for my Prolia injection I wouldn't have found out my blood pressure was high.  That explained why I'd had such a bad headache for a week and had been lightheaded.

Everything came together, and I will be getting answers.  They may not be the best answers, but I think I will know what's going on and get some relief.

@NickNack

That's great news, you seem to be more at ease, understanding more about what may be going on and more confident about waiting to see your Dr. on Monday!

That's a good thing!

Hugs to you, Ava and Henry!Heart

@NickNack I am so worried about you, this is very frightening. I know you will have a nurse to see but the nurse isn't one of your doctors.

I hope you'll do what others have suggested (which I also what I would do) and have someone take you to the ER/ED or Urgent Care or call 9-1-1.

My hypertension is well control but your numbers are frightening, in light of all of your health situation.

Please get some attention BEFORE your medcal appoint. Something drastic could happen and none of us want that for you.

Thank you @Love my grandkids .  My BP has probably been averaging about 140/something.  I taking it several times a day and writing it down.  It goes down into the 130's at times.  My sister's SIL who is a nurse said that it would be okay until I could call my doctor on Monday.

She is very smart, and I do think she knows.  It was only 170/100+ one time when I saw my doctor on Monday.  It's been such a short time since I started the blood pressure medicine, although it seems like it's been longer.

I know it needs to get back down to 120/80 or less, and hopefully when I get on the proper dose of BP medication next week it will.

@NickNack. Sorry to hear about your health issues.  Call your PCP and ask her to call the specialist herself and get you seen asap.  No need for you to worry until January.

Specialists will usually see patients asap if they get a doc to doc call.

Wishing you the best.

@grandma r   My gastroenterologist referred me to the Urologist.  He said he would put a rush on it, and if I didn't get in quickly to call and let him know and he would call personally.  My appointment was in 2 1/2 weeks from when he called me to tell me the results of the CT scan, which is really pretty quick.

January sounds like a long time, but my appointment is actually week and a half from today.  I'm seeing the gastroenterologist for a follow-up from the colonoscopy, upper endoscopy and CT scan on Tuesday.
