When will it end? Unfortunartly, when the last of the first responders has died.
I often wonder how the people who were on the street when the first tower collapsed, and they were covered with dust ... how any of them are faring these days.

I’ve always wondered...when will a death not be a ‘9/11’ death?
It’s been almost 20 years...and by actuarial standards, there’s a
greater than zero chance many of these deaths would’ve occurred
naturally even without the 9/11 tragedy...even the various cancers.
Is there a particular reason to label it a 9/11 Death?
Maybe for insurance...or other benefits?

"Or other benefits?"
I don't think this is a path to go down. Especially on this thread. The implication and speculation is distasteful.
I would think their doctors are relating the deaths to poisoning caused by 9/11.

Settle down everyone.
I was just asking an innocent question...a very real, legitimate question.
We all have life-insurance benefits for our surviving family members.
I was just asking how the cause of death would factor in.
ETA: Are 9/11 deaths New York City proper? Or do they extend to statewide? Or even Northeast area? I would like to know what the perimeters would be to encompass the after-effects of Sept 11th.
Not sure what is being implied or speculated?

Telling posters who have a different perspective than you to "settle down" does nothing to encourage further dialogue.
Conversation effectively ended.
Have a peaceful day.

I would still like to know, though...
Are 9/11 deaths New York City proper?
Or do they extend to statewide?
Or even Northeast area?
I would like to know what the perimeters would be to
encompass the after-effects of Sept 11, 2001 and how it’s classified.
Does anyone have insurance/actuarial science experience w/ this?
Reason I ask:
I’m referring back to the OP when asked..’when will it end?’
Knowing the perimeters is one step to gain answers to that question.

Please read the following. Thank you.
V.e.r.y informative.
Thank you for circling back with that.
Even though the Healthcare program extends throughout 2090,
the Compensation program ending in 2020, w/out renewal,
is a concern. Plus...all the people coming from around the US/World
to help we’re affected, as well. It extends much, much further
than we know. Again, thank you for posting. 🌼💛

It's based on people that worked at the scene. The person I posted about was from upstate but was sent down as a state trooper. I too have wondered how they decide it's 9/11 related but it could be the specifics of the disease or cancer. Maybe the rarity. I suppose there could also be people that lived in the area diagnosed as well.
I don't think it's wrong to be curious about how they diagnose. You can still respect all of these people and grieve for them. My curiosity stems from the fact that my father was a fireman although long retired now. Almost everyone he worked with passed away it seems like not long after retirement. Most from cancer. So I always wonder if these guys were sick from their work and how would we know.
