Wonder what will actually be released in information about all this. The airline is Malaysian owned and operated so they will probably withhold info to the general public on a lot of things. I don't think the USA has been asked to help yet. We have only been informed.

Looks like you have something there Ford1224. I think those concerned want to believe it's just mechanical issues (though they can be disastrous), but there's also other possibilities. I think we will know more as our sun sets here in the west and they get their daylight to check things out.

Not sure I will be taking any flights in that area...in the near future.

They have even starting using the same terminology as in the other plane situation, from missing to vanishing!

I can't wrap my head around the inconsistencies with the latest 'disappearing' act. If the plane suffered some tragic consequences due to weather, how come there's no footage from their transponders?

This flight was a short one compared to the other one too. Under two hours. If the plane was in some sort of trouble, why NO mayday call was sent out? If it crashed why No fuel slicks on the water? A plane with jet fuel even if on a full tank would certainly leave some evidence behind! Strange!

Not so strange, really.
Why no "mayday" call?
Because the pilots are taught to do three things.
Aviate
navigate
communicate.
They could have been so busy with aviate and navigate, that they didn't have time to communicate.
Also, why no oil slick?
Because the seas have been choppy because of monsoonal storms, which churns the water.
If the skies were clear blue, and the ocean was smooth as glass, sure, there would be an oil slick. But not when the seas are rough and the ocean is choppy.

Even with a disabled pilot, the transponders should still be transmitting data, to date, I have not heard a single reasonable reason why that did not occur.

If crashed, wonder how long until debris washed up on shore?
It is so strange no debris was ever found on that plane that was never found!
