I receive the monthly Carolyn Myss newsletter. If you're not familiar with her, she's written books such as Anatomy of the Spirit, and more.
This month she writes about walking in a local park with a friend and coming across little zip-lock bags on park benches filled with a scarf, a Power Bar and a heart-shaped note that read, "If you are cold or hungry, please take this."
What a lovely idea.
ETA: This is to clarify. Ms. Myss and her friend were not the ones who left the bags but she, her friend, plus the new friend they met that day discussed what sort of actions they could do to assist their community as well, and preferably anonymously (they ended up calling themselves "anonymous angels"). She didn't say what they decided to do, but something like this is something anyone could do if they wanted to.
I did not post about this because it was someone connected with spirituality who wrote about this but because it is only fair to give credit to where information is sourced.

It seems like ONE WHITE SPARROW said awhile back that she was going to do something similar to what you are describing. I think instead of baggies, she was going to tie scarves around trees in a park and if anyone needed one, they could untie it and have it......maybe she changed her mind.....
I could be wrong.....

I've seen CM on Public TV and she certainly has a wonderful take on the spiritual. I think that in a country where there is so much , no one should need to set baggies out with scarves and power bars in the park. Spirituality should have nothing to do with it, it's just plain decency towards our fellow man that everyone should have the basics in life.

Love Carolyn Myss, have learned so much from her. Especially when she told us to not yearn for more than to be a light right where we are now in this moment. I try to claim that every day. Throw the bushel aside and just shine!
The story did remind me of OWS's journey . . . Haven't heard from her in a while. Sigh.

Homegirl, I am not familiar with this author, but will investigate. You led me to Susan Branch and I have been enjoying her books. I look forward to your recommendations.

Wonderful thread!...There are so many ways that we all can be "Anonymous Angels"...It doesn't take much at all and brings the greatest joy!...You can feel in your heart and soul that this is how it was meant to be...everyone reaching out to each other and just letting each other know that we care and will be there for one another.
Just the simplest gesture can make such a difference in someone's day/life and your inner voice starts singing and you know that this is exactly what was intended!...It is like creating a little "Utopia" for a while, amongst the reality, and gives one hope!
@GingerPeach...Thanks for sharing this wonderful message with us tonight!
