We meet 45 years ago in high school in the library and will be soon be celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary. I knew he was the one right away, but he needed about a year to figure that out. We were so young. He was my best friend then and still is my best friend to this day.

My husband was a Captain in the Army and I worked civil service in Officers Personnel. I went to the ladies room and across from it was the auditorium and he was at the desk in front.
Our eyes met and he flashed a smile with beautiful teeth, I returned the smile, then later tried reading his name tag and finding his file. He was new on post so there wasn't a record and my boss helped me find his records. . I found he was single and my boss bet me a drink he would ask me out that weekend. He didn't and I won a drink!

Later I found out he went with a General as his aide to another state temporarily. He called me when he returned and we had our first date in the city where he eventually retired. Love at first sight exists and we were married 40 years before he passed away from agent orange.

Re: ...And Then They Met

[ Edited ]

It's a long story but I'll try to make it short....

Met paramour on a cruise ship.

He was engaged.

Fiancée spent the whole cruise in the infirmary - bad case of sea sickness.

One of the girls 6 girls in my group invited him to sit at our dinner table & joins us whenever we went off shore.  She took a liking to him.

Last cruise night we all met the "sick" fiancée in the bar lounge.  She still had sea legs.  She thanked all of us for taking care of "her man."  He asked for my phone # after taking "sick" fiancée back to cabin to check on me after I returned home.

He called the evening I arrived home.

He lived in Tampa, Fl.  From Philly

Talked for 3+ hours

Didn't hear from him again till 1 1/2 yrs later when he called me.  I almost forgotten who he was! Smiley LOL

He had moved back to Philly, expanded his business there, baby son in hospital.  Staying w/baby mama until son out of the woods.

Asked me out to lunch.  During lunch........

Found out him & fiancée broke up (NOT the baby mama).  He did not tell me why & I never asked.  He bought a house, baby son in excellent health.

He ended up taking me to dinner that evening! Smiley Very Happy

We were off & on for a few months as I continued to date other people.

One day he "asked" me to be monogamous.  I told time I would think about it.

That was 40+ years ago.........

THE REST IS HISTORY

Dead ex-husband not worth mentioning

We met on a bus in NYC.  Actually, he was the bus driver and I would occassionally catch his bus going home at night if he was running late.   He would talk to a few of us women that would sit up front, and he seemed nice.  One night after I got off his bus, I twisted my ankle and fell.  He saw me fall, got off the bus and asked if I needed medical attention. I thanked him, but refused saying I was OK, just embarrassed.  A few nights later I caught his bus again and he asked for my phone number.  To this day, when asked how we met, he tells people that I "fell" for him.

We met at work, his brother and I worked for the same company, hubby's brother reminded me of Kris Kristofferson with crystal blue eyes and was married, anyway his brother (my hubby) decided to move out to CA from NJ to look for work and lo and behold he was hired at the same company.  We didn't hit it off right away but soon the attraction started to set in and the rest is history, been married for 40 years!

We met in college and for our second date he asked me to spend Mardi Gras day with him.  Then later he invited me to the Rex ball that night.  We had a great time.

BUT many years later he confessed that he originally had invited another girl to the ball.  So one girl for the day and another that night.  After a bit of thought, his tiny little male brain realized that switching dates like that might not be a good idea so he uninvited her and took me to both.

Sidenote: that girl stared daggers at me every time I saw her and I had no idea why.  After he told me what he had done (years later), it all made sense.  She probably thought that I had stolen her date.  Guess it was all for the best, because we'll celebrate our 52nd anniversary in June.
