I already have 52 first cousins. My Dad was one of 16 children. I definitely don't need to find any additional family. My first cousin whom I'm very close to and I laugh about people trying to find a living blood relative. We could share some with you!

Identical twins share similar genes, not identical DNA once the egg splits.  There are numerous reports online.  @JaneMarple Is correct.

I was a member for about a year. I was able to find some documents relating to my dad's military service but I wasn't able to locate any information via where he lived from the 1940 census so I quit as I was at a dead end.

I did find information that someone was looking for information about my dad's first wife and was able to contact that person and give them some information. I wish I had better luck though. I did find the ship registry information about the ship my newlywed mom came over from Japan to the U.S. on while she was pregnant with me as I already had photos of her on the ship. 

I also found information about some of my sister's in-laws including some high school yearbooks with the M-I-L photos as a young high school student.

I think it's really hit and miss as to what you can find though. If I could find any census info on my dad or his family I would try Ancestry again but since they are expensive I'll wait until there are more census years uploaded to that site.

@sophiamarie  I guess I am dense here, but how could your kids have siblings they didn't know they had?  Wouldn't you know if you had other children?  I must not be seeing this right.

@tends2dogs   LOL  I was waiting to see how long it would take for someone to figure out that I was just kidding.    Yeah, it would be kinda strange if I had other kids and never knew it.  But, stranger things have happened......  Anyway, it was just a joke.

I'm not sick - just old.  Time moves very quickly and I don't think these DNA tests are around very long - at least not that I can remember anyway.  I recently became aware of them not too long ago and probably should have done something about it then - but life gets in the way.  Who knows, maybe something will come of this and I'll find something out anyway.  We'll see - and I'll keep you all updated.

        Well, their father could have children out there that even HE doesn't know about so they could indeed have unknown siblings.  There's also all those college guys who donate sperm for cash; their kids definitely have siblings that no one know about.

Nothing to  "figure" about with the twins.  One or both of them was scammed by the DNA search company and that's why I haven't probably never will do it.  They could be making the stuff up as they go.  Apparently, some do.  I saw a tv news show a couple of years ago and they had several sets of identical twins do the DNA search and I believe it was 50% of the time, the two twins got widely different reports.  Not slightly different, significantly different.  Anything can happen when the reports are generated by for profit companies.

@chrystaltree  The poster said in post #34 that she might find children she never knew she had.  That is why I asked her what I did.  I couldn't see how that was a possibility unless she had amnesia at some point in her life LOL.

The scenarios you offered would be a possibility of her kids having unknown siblings.  I guess I quoted the wrong post.

Well, that explains it...lol   I have thought about the sperm donors and now the college girls who donate eggs and all the children they have out there that they know nothing about.  With Ancestry.com and similar companies out there.....their children or grandchildren could find close relatives they never knew existed.

It’s not a scam @chrystaltree

It’s because identical twins receive similar chromosomes bup but not identical DNA.  That happens when the egg splits.  It’s easy to google that information.

BYW, the National Geographic has published a new magazine on race with the claim that race is just a construct.

The cover freatures a set of twin girls with a white mother and a black father.  One girl appears to be white, the other girl appears to be black.  Beautiful girls.
