I simply can't figure out how CJ is still on there. He's most times off-tune and strains to hit the notes. He can't carry a tune, either. The contortions he makes with his face are off-putting. Must be a popularity thing.

Like the judges pointed out...and it's very true...CJ is able to emotionally connect to the listener which is a quality that most of the other remaining contestants are sorely lacking. The judges acknowledged that he is not always in tune but that what he possesses is "magic". As technically not too good as he is, I can feel that. His ability to connect is even more magnified by the fact that most of the remaining contestants are completely devoid of any personality or stage presence. These contestants have to realize they will not only be sitting in a recording studio, they will be performing live. They need to learn quickly how to perform on a stage and connect emotionally to the lyrics of a song and to show their emotionality and a passion for singing to the audience.
I also think the singing talent has decreased every single year. This is the worst. I can't believe these are the best, albeit "non-professional" singers in the country. The only one with any credible talent is Caleb. IMO most of the rest are just very good karaoke level singers.

Everyone praises Caleb. Did you happed to hear him say he would pick a Journey song that will please all the "old ladies?" Don't care for him . . . or his "talent." He will win, of course, because that has already been decided.

I have to say I haven't watched much of Idol this year. I like the judging group a lot, and watched the very early shows, but what little I've tuned into since the show went live, has shown me nothing in talent. I think it is the worst group of finalists this show has ever presented.
The Voice, on the other hand has so much talent this year, and so many good people are having to be sent home to narrow things down.
I think Idol has run it's course. It used to produce some great talent, but this year, I'm not impressed.

Hi Ford....yes, when he sang that Journey song he said he hoped to make some old ladies cry. What an idiotic thing to say.

Harry had suggested he sing a quiet song this week, so this was the one C chose and even Harry said that it was obvious C was disinterested in the first half of the song and couldn't wait until he could get back to screaming the second part of the song (my words). His voice goes right through me, so high pitched and gritty. He puts my teeth on edge. Once he started with the screeching, I muted the sound.
The best duet was Alex and Sam's "This Girl is Mine," MJ's 80s hit. Their voices harmonized perfectly.

I thought that was a sweet and charming duet.

Better yet how did he make it to the final 10? 20? 50?

I don't care for any of them except for Alex and Jena (& Jess is OK). Alex and Jena make the songs their OWN style. The rest are cookie cutters. I don't care for Caleb, but as Ford said I bet he will win. And last night they advised Alex wrong. He should stick to who he is, hes NOT some coffee shop singer, hes an original unlike many!
