I don't have Prime and never pay shipping. These days a pack of gum and a plastic comb almost get you over the $35 threshold!!
If I have something in my cart that is shy of the $35 requirement, I just look around for some inexpensive little trinket that helps me reach my goal. It is essentialy free since I would have spent the same or more money if I paid shipping.
This works well for me since I order frequently but not constantly. Also, the TV and movie stuff that comes along with Prime is not of great interest to me.

@781Florist that's exactly what I do. You just have to make sure the "extra" item is sold and shipped by Amazon.

it may be on its way......

Amazon started increasing the free shipping minimum to $35 for non-Prime members in some markets, according to notices on its website, as the company looks for more ways to cut costs.
Until now, the minimum purchase for free shipping has been $25. Prime subscribers, who pay $139 a year for free shipping and other services, will see no change.

Amazon works well for larger families and works incredibly well for families that also have pets and run small businesses. Not a good savings source for me - and too expensive for a bit of convenience.

I am not a prime member as I rarely order from Amazon. Items I've ordered were less than $25 and I paid no shipping. Only once did I pay shipping on an item. I only buy items with free shipping from them except that once. That is why I don't understand why people pay that high annual fee. It's like going to a department store and the telling you you need to pay a fee to shop there.

I don't buy from Amazon, b/c its prices are higher there than most other places.
I have the annual plan of $98., and their prices for my needs beats Amazon always. Walmart's delivery is excellent and I can have it in an hour or two. Lower prices & tips, and it all equals out with my getting the advantage of not having to pay for gas and walking up and down aisles and time saved.
I do check on Amazon often for prices, and I always can do better all around.

I bet she is right...it is coming.
I just checked my Amazon wish list and ALL items now say $35 min. to get the free shipping.
(I'm not Prime)

@Texasmouse wrote:... price to get free shipping, if you don't have Prime. I never signed up for Prime because I don't use all of what's included in the membership and I didn't want to pay (not sure what it is now) as a monthly fee. I always found a way to make my order at least $25 to get free shipping but today, I noticed that it's gone up to $35. ☹️
@Texasmouse Not to worry! Inflation alone will make up the difference. Just buy the same stuff and you'll have the difference. Nothing is really changing except the price of what we buy.

I shop at Amazon w/Prime.
They always seem to have what I want/need that I might not be able to find anywhere else.
Over the summer, when I shopped the internet for DKNY sports bras/mesh tops, Amazon provided...and at a huge discount! I think that is real service! (For instance...the original price for "strappy sports bra" in lilac was over $40. My price to purchase from Amazon was $11.99 w/free shipping!)
Another reason I use Amazon is b/c I live in an area that is rather difficult to navigate (for me, most of my area of PA is). Amazon can get my needs to me (monthly subscribe and save).
I enjoy their app "Prime Video". And I cannot "do" without their ebooks Kindle.
I'm providing my reasons in case anybody is considering Prime and I know my reasons are very specific for just me!
