I very rarely shop on Amazon, but I went to place an order and on checking out it wanted me to check the box for Subscribe & Save.  What is that?  I don't remember ever seeing that before. How can you bypass this since I don't want any subscriptions with Amazon.

It's exactly what it says, a subscription service for certain items and you save money when you subscribe rather than remembering to reorder something yourself.  You can set up your schedule according to your lifestyle, convenience, etc., but you can also manipulate the subscription to delay an item or bump it up.

I use the option for a ton of stuff - skincare, makeup, household items, supplements, cat litter, pop, steak seasoning, personal hygiene, you name it.

When an item has a subscription option, you intentionally have to select it.  The default is for a single shipment.

I use subscripe & save. I get an order every month or really anytime I want a specific item. The more you sign up for you get a little bit of $ off each item over 5 I think, You can choose to skip an item or extend the time between that item. Just got mine yesterday. There is about 5 days that I have to change my order before it ships. If I don't want anything, I skip it all.  If you don't want it, you don't have to check the box, just place your order.

It's like signing up for an auto delivery service for future orders and they are offering a discount to do so. You have to select it so just ignore the offer.

I don't have Prime and don't shop Amazon very often.

@JeanLouiseFinch  Thanks for your description of this subscription. I saw where I could deselect.  I am not an Amazon shopper so this is something I have no interest in and would not be reordering anything.

@Biftu

I'm not a big Amazon shopper either, but I tried this service recently after an order of a few things.

What I signed up for was protein shakes totalling about $25.

As the time approached for the first shipment, I wondered if I would be charged $6.95 for not meeting their $35  threshold for free shipping.

Well, the shakes came, and no shipping charge was added.

I like to buy shakes online because the prices are often better and the heavy boxes are delivered to my front door.

I use it for several items that I buy from them regularly.

Aside from a couple of serious delivery mishaps over the course of many years, I have had ongoing excellent service through Amazon Prime. I also had great service from Amazon Subscribe and Save but rarely use it as I choose to order when the need arises and to order enough non-perishable items to stock up for many months. The "terrible mishaps" were related to serious delivery errors (e.g. blocking a doorway with heavy packages, so that the door could not be opened) and were graciously resolved by Amazon.

I love Amazon. Best prices and free shipping when you join! I also like the reviews.
