There is usually no wait time with Amazon deliveries in my area.

I must say though, that there are numerous Amazon warehouses within 5 to 30 miles of my house. When driving through our area, you can see Amazon buildings every couple of miles right from the highways.

i know lots of people who are Amazon employees.

I sometimes have to wait longer if the seller is a third party who sells on Amazon. They are located all over, even from other countries.

I just looked it up, there are 96 warehouses/distribution Centers in my area. Wow! That's more than I thought.

I have onky had two or three occasions in all my years shopping with Amazon to need an item the same day and never had a problem nor have I had a problem with any Amazon delays. It could be where you live

Have not experienced any delivery problems. Yesterday morning I ordered a cough medicine and Vicks and it was delivered late afternoon. Most items I receive within 2 days and auto deliveries always come on time. Maybe it's because there is a hge Amazon center less than 2 miles from me and others fairly close by. The one by me does use robots also.

The problem with Amazon is if they can't deliver when they advertise which is often the reason for buying then they shouldn't say it can be delivered same day or in one day.

Same thing has happened to me and yes it is infuritating. One takes the time to look over the selections and different vendors and then you choose the one that is most convenient only to discover their promise to deliver is nothing more than a come on.
