Amazon Shipping Changes?

I've been an Amazon shopper for years and have always been pleased with their service but I'm not a Prime member for several reasons. The shipping has always been fast and efficient but the last two items I had which qualified for free shipping were held and not shipped for over a week. I'm wondering if this is a ploy to get more people to join prime or to pay the cost of standard shipping instead of going with the free shipping. Anyone else having this issue?

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.
