I would have to rethink subscribing if the cost was increased, even by $20.

I love Prime, but before I subscribed I usually managed to get an order to $25 (for free shipping) without much trouble, so I could revisit that if I had to drop Prime.

Didn't the $25 recently go up to $35 for qualify for free shipping?

I don't know, it's always free with Prime, but Amazon does feature some venders who aren't part of their program. That's only happened with us once, and it was for a special kind of bandage.

It did.

So now you have to spend $35 to qualify for "free" shipping (and not every product qualifies for the "free" ship) and they may increase Prime by as much as $40.

Was Yuban, then changed to Plaid Pants due to forum upgrade, and apparently, I'm back to being Yuban.

I don't get why you're using quotes around "free" shipping. That's a common practice with ordering online, for sure it's not just Amazon. Since a minimum order is free, I don't understand what you're saying.

A lot of Amazon vendors offer free shipping anyway, if you're willing to accept standard delivery, which takes only a few days and works fine for me. What's the rush? I go that route and am very happy with the service I've had. I wouldn't consider it worthwhile to pay the "Prime" membership unless I'm ordering a tremendous amount or need very fast delivery for some reason.

We order a lot through Prime. We give books as presents, often, but there's always something on the list. This week my daughter ordered software for her Mac from Amazon, it was cheaper than the Apple store and exactly the same thing.

I ordered basically all my Christmas gifts through Amazon, and not long ago I ordered 8 boxes of my favorite cereal because I couldn't find it at our local stores.

We got a new kitty recently and ordered A LOT of supplies from Amazon, including new beds for both and what they call a "playground" for kittens that can keep them enclosed if you want.

All free S&H.

If you are paying $80.00 a year, I don't consider that to be free shipping. You are just paying shipping all up front and that may or may not work out for you. For me, it's not worth it. Anything over $35.00 already qualifies for free shipping and anything ordered through a third party vendor doesn't qualify under Prime.

I didn't even order 10 items last year from Amazon so had I paid the money for Prime, my "free" shipping really cost me at least $8.00 per item. But some of my items were over $35.00 anyhow.

Noel congrats on your new kitty. You have probably posted about him/her before but I didn't see it. What is his/her name?

Before Prime, we averaged about 35 orders a year. And my husband always managed to get to 25.00 back then and sometimes for stuff we didn't need or would have to wait to get enough to get to 25 . . . not always but for little things.

I bet we'll hit 50 this year. And so nice to have things shipped straight to my father, his parents, daughter @ college . . . and usually within 2 days . . . not everything but most.

And for 1/2 price . . . we love it . . . he wouldn't sign up but I did one day and I think he is secretly happy I did. Smiley Happy

My situation is totally different from yours, and I am getting free shipping in less than a month of subscribing. Look at what the Q charges to ship per item by pony express. A total rip off. Now, I rarely order from the Q, so that would not pay for me. (Not that they would ever offer any real deals to their customers, anyway.)
