We have had two malls knocked down and they are rebuilding both - Totem Lake and Park Place.  I was referring to Totem Lake.

I stopped shopping at both Whole Foods & Trader Joes.

I'm very careful what I purchase- only organic, & non-GMO foods. I get allergic reactions from additives, chemical sprays, & GMO "food" (manipulated phood). 

Quite some time ago, I noticed I got HORRIBLE reactions from many of their organic items....including veggies, cheese, & others. When I puchased organic from other stores, or ate home-grown veggies, NO reaction from the same type items.

Then I read that both WF & TJ's have a Monsanto connection. There's the answer. A lot of the items they sell ARE NOT what they claim. I'll never go back to either store.

I have never considered Trader Joe's an organic market especially after they were sold years ago.

TJ's has many supposedly organic food items. When I shopped there, I always had a very specific list. For example, organic red bell peppers, garlic, onions, cheese.....like that. It got to the point where I'd get a horrible headache that lasted for days if I ate any of those items. 

And the fact that either WF or TJ's has ANY connection to the evil empire Monsanto tells me everything I need to know. I'll never go back to either place.

I also mentioned the Daisy brand for sour cream and cottage cheese.  They do carry some "regular" brands but not in the way we see at other stores.

I know that one of our WF had the shop online and pick up at the store and also a very limited delivery just before Amazon stepped in but then the sign outside was removed.

I don't have their app; my old smartphone won't take it.  So I don't know if any of those services are still available.

@Cakers3, I know that they've always carried some brands I was familiar with - but not many in what I usually bought. I have a theory that WF (pre-buyout) traditional marketing, from Day One, has backfired on them over the years to the point that they never could recover, and kind of doomed themselves from the start.

They have always been "too expensive" for the "average" person - and that was by design. Certainly in SoCal, saying you "only" shopped at WF was a way of saying "I can afford it" and "I'm more interested in my health (whatever the cost) than you are." To this day. It was, and is, considered elitist to shop exclusively or largely at WF. There's a lot of ridicule.

So when the economy tanked and people pulled in their horns financially, WF got hit and that elitist label hurt - and has continued to hurt their bottom line.

I think that both lowering their prices and stocking the stores with more major brands is the only thing that will help. Otherwise, the "health food" customers have clearly not been enough to keep the stores financially healthy. If they don't become more mainstream, they die. I hope that's Bezos' plan. He isn't a stupid man.

@spot555  This is totally false.  The rumor regarding Whole Foods and Monsanto was started by the Organic Consumer Association.  The OCA disliked that WF didn't take the hard stance against GMO with the Sec. of Agriculture that they determined.

This rumor keeps circulating after 6 or so years after it started. 

I know that there are off the wall articles out there but Snopes is a good place to start to dispel this foolish rumor once and for all.

I don't know what caused your reaction but it certainly wasn't because WF misled you into buying their products.
