Since they delivered it to the wrong address (and the driver did not verify your address correctly) I would just let it go. It was their mistake

You can call them but my guess is they'll let it go, realizing the inconvenience to you. Maybe not. They're not what they used to be, but it would be only fair. I can't imagine the cost of ribbon is a great loss for them.

I have always been able to contact them and I found them to be very helpful. I sure they will resolve the issue for you!

What was the homeowner being a stickler about?  Wasn't it your name and address on the package, and not theirs? It would seem like a simple thing to look at your husband's ID and see that the package was supposed to go to his house.  Sounds as if they just wanted to keep your package.  I'm happy for you that you finally got it, and on time too.

@shoesnbags - this particular neighbor is kind of a loner and not overly friendly to begin with.  Even though we're neighbors we haven't engaged much in recent years.  DH looks different from how this guy might remember him. In the guy's defense, he recently lost his wife so he may not be 100% himself.  DH thought about taking the package and leaving but then he though he should tell the homeowner what happened so he wouldn't think DH was stealing.  The neighbor scrutinized the package while DH reassured him of who we are and where we live. Eventually it clicked.

I know I need to reach out to Amazon, and I will tomorrow.  I just don't have the time right now as we're leaving the house shortly.

I have a dilemma.  I had an Amazon order that I was waiting for today. I checked for updates often.  When I saw it was delivered my heart sank.  Then I got perturbed.  The delivery picture was NOT our front porch and I didn't know whose porch it was.   I was annoyed because I was waiting on the second (replacement) shipment of ribbon to wrap a birthday gift for tonight.  The first one could be in Timbuktu for all I know, but then the replacement didn't make it here either?!.  I went through the steps online, then talked with an agent and Amazon refunded.  Just to try one last thing, I forwarded the picture to DH and he drove around the neighborhood looking for a match.  He ended up finding the house and the package was still there on the porch. The homeowner was being a stickler but eventually relented and gave DH the package.  I was able to make the gift look nice.  Yay!

But...I ended up with the merchandise and the refund so that isn't right.  Can I contact Amazon tomorrow and have them reprocess the charge?

May I ask how you ever spoke with someone? I had a weird thing happen and cannot speak with anyone. My problem doesn't fit any of the categories they list on the website.  The only phone number I found is a recording.

@Catch71- I started out accessing customer service "chat" which is a series of questions and answer options.  Eventually I arrived at a question asking if I wanted to speak with an associate.  I had to give them a good number and an agent called me. She had a few more questions took care if everything.

Was your package delivered by Amazon or UPS or USPS? That is who you need to contact.

There is a house 1 street over with the same house number as mine. Occasionally, UPS delivered packages to them. I talked to UPS and to my regular driver who put special notes in their records. I haven't had a problem since.

Sheesh, @Catch71, I just reread my comment and what a bunch of jibberish.  It was sort of funny, but I looked stupid at the same time.  I need to get better at proofreading.  🤦‍♀️

It's edited and corrected now.

Stop feeding the beast.  Amazon among others are killing America.
