Re: Amazon- For the first time, customer service did not satisfy my complaint

@QVCkitty1, I don't like FedEx either, I have too many problems with them. Target ships FedEx, I won't order anything from Target for delivery any more, I'll do an online order & do store pickup. It's inconvenient for me, but I'd rather do that than deal with FedEx.

They also don't  let you know just where the driver left the package (or packages), you're sent an e-mail stating that the package has been delivered & the date/time it was delivered. Now if they happen to deliver something, I know to look in my backyard or outside my fence.

I have a 6 foot high privacy fence. For bigger packages, FedEx stacks them outside the back gate. If it's a smaller package, they throw it over the fence. One time I ordered 6 boxes of 28 lb kitty litter, which FedEx stacked outside my back fence. I had to lug the litter into my house, one box at a time. By the time I was done, my heart rate was in the 160's, which isn't good.

Same here. Walmart uses FedEx, and I order the big bags of cat food, so I don't have to deal with them. Well, that backfires when they deliver next door. My house is well marked, I gave a detailed description to the person on the phone. Then next time, same problem. Grrr.

Re: Amazon- For the first time, customer service did not satisfy my complaint

@conlt, why was this sent by USPS? My brother-in- law ordered four huge speakers and they were delivered by Amazon van.  No problem whatsoever.

Your problem is with USPS. I always heard thatthey don´t deliver over a certain weight, Don´t know if that´s true.

Re: Amazon- For the first time, customer service did not satisfy my complaint

@conlt- Without going into long details, I had a similar problem with Amazon (we're Prime members) a few months ago.  Ordered something that was supposed to be delivered to my door.

Waited on the day and it didn't arrive.  But when I checked my mailbox, there was a sticky note from our rural carrier saying he couldn't deliver it because the box didn't fit in his vehicle!  We're rural and many carriers use their own vehicles and this guy had a Jeep.  And he couldn't even come to my door to tell me it wasn't being delivered.

It was too late for me to collect it that day, so off I went the next day and carried the box to my Subaru Forester by myself, no offer of help, and it fit on the back seat, without the seats being put down.

No use complaining to USPS; they never responded.  Complained to Amazon and told them they needed to ship items over a certain size via UPS only (not USPS) and they said they couldn't specify the delivery carrier!!!  WTH?

I told them that was B.S. with their marketplace power?  I told them I would never order anything like that from them again.  (The post office told me that, if I hadn't collected it myself, they would've held it for 15 days and then returned it to the sender.  Useless all around.)

It seems we now have our problem solved:  I've recently noticed that we have a normal postal van delivering things.  It seems they've finally done away with carriers using their own vehicles.  And it only took a couple of decades.

But you are right:  Amazon doesn't care.

Re: Amazon- For the first time, customer service did not satisfy my complaint

The chair was advertised free delivery. USPS did not deliver the chair. I had to get someone to help me and paid him $20 to drive with me to USPS and pick-up the chair. My problem with Amazon, is that they should not ship and item with a carrier that would not deliver. If UPS had the box, I know it would have been delivered. The box was no bigger than some of the boxes I have received from chewy , HSN or QVC. The chair itself is not that heavy.

@Venezia Your story is pretty much what happened to me. I see no way that the box would not have fit in the USPS truck. BTW, for those of you who have had trouble with FEDEX, I have too. They could not find my address but finally did. I ordered 2 30 lb bags of dog food from Chewy and they left the 2 boxes in front of my gate so I could not open the gate. Geez, you would have thought they would have left them off to the side of the gate.

Re: Amazon- For the first time, customer service did not satisfy my complaint

People rave about amazon customer service, but my experience has been a mixed bag.  I am a prime member for 15 years, and spend a fortune. Really.  You should see my amex.  Pages of amazon, lol.  That aside, I am afraid to call them last year or so. I dread a problem and overlook many mistakes because of the customer service I get.  Sometimes I spend 30 -40 minutes on a call.  They spend more time parroting every word I say.  The language  issue is a really frustration for me.  I often get someone with such a strong accent they struggle talking.  I know I can ask for someone in the states, but I dont want to offend them. A couple times I made an excuse to end call and called back later.  I have found if I call week days, daytime I have better luck.  I can speak a couple languages, and dont have trouble with most people with heavy accents, but on the phone its horrible, then parroting every word I say, then breaking to talk to supervisor... it is horrible

I wouldn't expect them to reimburse you for what sounds pretty much like a tip... What I do hope, though, is that mail order retailers will soon realize that some shipping entities are not doing their businesses any favors. USPS is one and FedEx is often another... I live in a condominium and recently the FedEx drivers, with just a few exceptions, are not even trying to deliver goods to customer's doors, but are dropping everything at the management office for us to go and pick up. Fine, if I'm not at home, leave it at the office, but at least make the effort... The USPS has been doing this for years... I'm sure it's a whole lot easier for them but it isn't for customers and will ultimately impact the retailers who are relying on them for good service... This isn't what they are being paid to do... If I have to go and pick up a package in a different building and schlep it up to my apartment, I might just as well have gone shopping for it... It defeats the purpose of mail order shopping and of supposed home delivery...

I have the same problem.  Now UPS promised delivery by the end of day----no pkg.

Next morning when tracking it says USPS will deliver by end of day.  This has been the new routine.

I agree. The problem isn't with Amazon it's with the company they trusted to do a job that wasn't well done. It's good to let Amazon know so perhaps they can consider alteratives, but it was the postal service who didn't deliver...

I disagree.  Amazon chooses the method of delivery - and should be responsible for it.

@stevieb

Yep, same problem here with our Mail Center. and FED EX is even worse than USPS...the ONLY exception is things vendors send UPS....those orders come quickly and right to my door....Woman Very Happy

Re: Amazon- For the first time, customer service did not satisfy my complaint

I think there is enough theft in apartment buildings and condos that policy has been changed to always drop packages at the office.  That's what I would want.  You might have an honest bunch of neighbors but not everyone does.  And, what is to keep strangers from just cruising the halls grabbing packages?  Count your blessisngs.
