I don't order a whole lot from Amazon but twice in the last year I received an e-mail that the item would be delivered on a certain day.  In one case I received it the next day and in the other, it was two days.  The first time it happened I received a $5.00 or $10.00 credit to my account due to the delayed shipping.  Didn't hear anything when it happened again but I didn't expect them to give me a credit either time anyway.

So, yes, it does happen.  FWIW, I am not a PRIME member either.

Maybe those credits for missed deliveries are for non-prime members!  I have never been offered a credit for that.  I do get other offers for prime members.  I order a lot, and have a few missed/late deliveries every year, which I discussed in an earlier post.  Delivery has been worse this year.  I used to get mostly next day delivery, now it's usually 2 day delivery (they tell me a checkout).  I think there is some cost cutting going on.

And I agree with the poster that delivery is impacted by the location of the warehouse where the stock is maintained, relative to the destination.
