When you live in a small town without much shopping, Amazon is a godsend. Between the fast shipping and prime video, I wouldn't be without it.

Wow, you must live near one of their warehouses to get things that fast. I've enjoyed Prime, too. It's not really totally necessary most times, but what's most worth it for me is the nearly last-minute Christmas shopping I can do, especially with the $3.99 1-day shipping, which is a steal. I usually only buy enough in any given year to make the shipping average out to about $5 per item, but that's still less than it would cost me to get 2-day shipping without Prime.

12 years ago before Amazon was everywhere, I ordered a book required for my Grandson to read for school.

I ordered it on Wednesday and it was delivered before noon on Thursday!  I think they were in CA then but they were a lifesaver.  None of the libraries had the book available to check out.

I'm one of the few here that isn't all that impressed with Amazon in general, so I won't be paying for prime anytime soon.

I've had wrong orders, lost orders, trouble getting refunds on lost orders (actually delivered to another state, and someone I don't know). They tend to ship Fed Ex, which I hate, as they leave the boxes in the driveway in the rain (we have a huge covered porch just ten paces up the front walk, but they can't figure that out). And when you order from a vendor on Amazon, forget any kind of customer service in resolving the problem.

If I want fast shipping I go to Walmart now for many things. Free, within two days, and no annual fee.

They always ship UPS here, thankfully, but also when I've had a problem and call and complain, they've always fixed it. The couple of times my Prime order has taken longer than 2 days to arrive, they've given me an extra month of Prime when I complained (politely).

I love it, too!  So convenient and it has saved me way more than $99/year in gas & mileage used running around looking for stuff.  I often go to Amazon to research products and read the reviews.  However, before I buy, I always do a Google search to see if the item if available for less somewhere else.

I've been a Prime member for a long time and love it, but it has turned me really lazy lol  I'm near plenty of shopping and can get out whenever I want, but usually I think, "Why should I go to the store when I can order from Amazon and have it in two days?" Smiley Happy

I tried the Prime Pantry just last week for the first time, and I was not impressed.  I did not know you have to "fill up a box" to get free shipping.  When I finally filled one up, I was over and into box #2.  Then I find that even though it's "free shipping", there is a $12.00 delivery fee.  What?  I ended up ordering all the same stuff from Walmart.  I got one box the next day and one in two days for REAL free.

I'm not holding Amazon in high esteem today.  Last Thursday I ordered a dog door, the kind you slip into the track of a sliding patio door.  It was to have been delivered yesterday the 6th, before 8pm.  Waited all day and no door. Finally about 9pm the shipping says I'll get it Aug. 6-8 and if I don't get it by the 9th to let them know,  for other options.   So where's my door?   They've flubbed this one.

How fortunate that you're in a same-day zone.

I live in a metro area, but my location is not in Amazon's same day zone, nor is it in the next day zone.

So with Prime, I would get orders in 2+ days, but I already receive orders in 2 days, and I don't need video or music feeds, so for me Prime is not worth its cost.

@nomless  I believe that soon with all the Amazon distributions opening up the goal will be to have everyone on same to next day delivery...so hang in there!

I think it's a wonderful service for those who do a lot of ordering or who don't live near shopping.  For me, it wouldn't be worth it.

@SaRina  I just do not want to drive in traffic  with high gas prices to buy what I can have delivered to my door.  I am sure that if other people do this....less congestion on the roads and in stores.  Less pollution as well.
