I hate them too and they freak me out..... particularly the big ones.
About fifteen years ago we had a lot of large spiders in the basement. At the time I had my studio there and spent a lot of time working on my projects. (I had an Etsy shop). They were wolf spiders and I used to call them baby tarantulas! The were big & hairy! Ugh!....they freaked me out a lot!
I would call either DH or my son (who was in high school at the time) to come down & get them. However a few times they weren't around so I gathered my courage (sounds silly!) and whacked it with a small board (I had a lot of wood pieces in the basement from the projects I was working on). At the time there were 3-4 such spiders appearing each week.
After a while I came to be wary of them being in the basement.....it was hard for me to work there. So another thing that I did was to spray them with adhesive spray. It made a sticky mess but slowed those critters down a lot so I was able to get them usually again with a board.
We figured that somehow there had been a spider's nest either in the ceiling or somewhere around the foundation of the house and that's how they were getting in and were so many of them. DH sprayed around the foundation several times and after a while they were gone! It took a couple of these applications (I don't know what it was that he used) but they were finally gone once and for good!
It's been many years now and knock on wood, I have not seen a spider (even a little one) down in my basement!

Probably. We put ours outdoors. We do not kill. Here back in the woods we have LOTS of bugs and I have learned to love God's Creatures.

@Desertdi Those things creep me out so much that I simply cannot look at the photo! I had to go past it quickly!!
See my post above about wolf spiders in my basement a number of years ago....thank goodness we removed that problem!

My son moved into a new apartment and found this on his bed.
Needless to say, he was freaked out.

I hate spiders too.. Here as soon as I clean there are more spider webs!..Guess living in the woods doesn't help.
2 weeks ago I had a garden snake on my familyroom floor!..I screamed so loud DH came running..he put it outside.Have no idea how it got in.
The Best.. when I told my 45 yr. old..he said "you should have put it in a tank" he would have taken it home!! He was Dr. Doolittle as a kid..he brought everything home.
He has 2 little boys..I told my DDL..that he "fun" is just beginning!

KingstonMom, no you are not the only one scared of bugs. I have learned over my 73 years to tolerate them. I lived in Florida for a year, which helped.
My cat, bless her ❤️, finds them. Sitting on the screen porch she finds crickets in the fall. Now she sits in a corner waiting for a bug to come in. Not relaxing for me, so we come in. I have to keep her from them as she has health issues.
I find them in bathroom, spiders that have bitten me. I keep my house very clean, to the point my family makes fun of me. Any open food item is in a plastic bag or the refrig.
My DH has a method with cardboard and paper cups where he takes them outside! The cat just stares at him! Her bug is gone! I am not so kind. He will not let me have an exterminator and since we are retired can't do it. He is always home. Even with bugs, I live in a crazy house.
🤷🏻♀️

@haddon9 .............Pictures of spiders will creep me out too! Any movie or any pictures of spiders I can not/do not look at, if I do I will have spider nightmare's.

I take a broom and dustpan and sweep the spider outside. I don't want to kill it, if it's not necessary. The spider is probably as scared as the person is.
I will kill flies and cockroaches, but not spiders.

I love animals but spiders and other creeping things I do not hesitate to kill them. I am not going to release them to crawl back into my house. No way!
