I have no idea why my parents chose my first name, but my middle name is one of those common Southern middle names that rolls off the toungue and when used together with the first name means you're in trouble.  I was in trouble a lot.

Yes. The three of us (me and my two brothers) share the same name as my uncle who was a priest. He passed before any of us were born. Heart

I was adopted...

My adopted father named me Susan Louise...

Susan for his favorite flower Black-eyed Susan

Louise for the tune his mother sang to him - 'Every little breeze seemed to whisper Louise...'

@haddon9  I am also Jewish and I was named after my material grandmother who died shortly after my parents met. My name is Ellen Linda and my Hebrew name is Enna Leah. My mother though she was going to have a boy and he would of been named my Mothers Grandfather. His Hebrew name is Pincus Rocham and she wanted to use the name for a boy. So he is named Paul Robert.

I'm Jewish.  Jews with eastern European background tend to name their children after deceased relatives.  Many times if you don't like the name, often people used the initials.  Mine are "D & H" for the middle name.  I like my name and it's common for women of my age.

I'm a Diane....I think that's probably the first time I have mentioned it here.

I also hate how the name "Karen" has become a slur.  I really thought that it would die down by now but it seems that it has only grown particularly online.  It's a really nice name but has been vilified!

In many comments sections I can't help from commenting back.  Why is that name become such a pariah?  I would hate that if it were my name!

@JFD12 - I was. My middle name is the same as my maternal grandmother's middle name. But she actually used it as her first name. She had the same first name as her mother, so she always went by X. (middle name). Everyone knew her as her middle name.

I continued the tradition with DD. Her middle name is my mom's first name, and actually the same as DH's mom too. And it's a name that is not that common!   Smiley Happy

I had two boys ... but did not find out in advance what I was having with either child. The name Rhiannon was hugely high on my list of girl's names ... yes, from Fleetwood Mac... but.. never used. 🤪

@JFD12 - One of my closest friends' younger son married a girl whose parents did use it!  Smiley Happy

Hi @Patriot3 ..... Like your nic!   Hope it means what I think it means!    Anyway, my family is from the central part of Italy in the Marche region.   My paternal grandparents and parents all came to the USA from there.  My maternal grandfather was here during WWI and worked for the American Government making the wood part of guns.  He was a carpenter.  He returned to Italy after the war.  The maternal side of my family remained in Italy.   I  have three first cousins and their families there.  We are all still very close.

My father chose my name because he liked it.  However, at the time in the Catholic church, it was not acceptable because it was a diminutive of a name and the full name is on the baptismal certificate and it is my legal name.  And as it goes I was called by the legal  name in school, work etc but my family and friends always called me by the name my father chose.

Now that I'm older, I guess I answer to both names!

@haddon9.  I'm with you on the "Karen" thing.   I frequently jump on someone (always a man) online for using it.  It nearly kills them that a woman has a strong opinion about something.

.

@haddon9 and @Kachina624 - One of my closest friends is Karen. We all choose to ignore the social media obsession, It seems like millennials have their own version - "She's such a JESSICA"!

I was almost Jacqueline, then at the last minute at the hospital, my dad turned the page and liked "my" name better. So when I was in elementary school I told everyone to call me Jacqueline. Some still do!   Smiley LOL
