My name is very unusual with only a handful nationwide sharing it.  My parents swore they couldn't remember where it came from, surely nobody in the family.  I find it hard to believe they wouldn't remember.  I was the first child.

I was named after my paternal grandmother.  I hated my name as a child.  Every one I knew was Barbara, Sandy, Susan, Mary or Carol or similar.

I was the only Carmela except for some old ladies at church.

I like my name now and proud to be named after my grandma.

@Carmie  One of my hubby's co-council member's daughter's name is Carmel... I thought it was very pretty! 🩷

I have no idea. I do know that it's spelled differently from what it is usually.

My mom's best friend was Gayle so that's how I got my middle name.

Daddy was across the "big pond" (WW2) when I was born. Mom named me after him. Daddy had been named after the doctor that delivered him. We own the letter that he wrote to my grandparents thanking them.

My parents found out they were expecting right after Daddy enlisted.

I keep on dancin'

I was named after my paternal grandmother.  My middle name is the female equivalent of my maternal grandfather's name.  My brother was named after our paternal grandfather.  Our family is from Italy.

My first name is not a common one.  I would rather have been called by my middle name

which was my grandmother's name.

My mother named me after a dear friend

that played an important  role in her life.
