All four Idol judges will not be returning next year

Randy is done, he said he's had enough, and the other three contracts are not being renewed. The viewership of the show is still worth keeping it on, so the decision has been made (according to Extra) that there will be four (perhaps only three) new judges next season.

The goal is to stay away from the "celebrity" judges who are being paid millions, get younger well known, but not "celebrity" types (who are just there to bolster their flagging careers), keep the music to what is hot today, so the younger set appreciates it more, and stick to other less extravagant elements.

The show shouldn't be about the judges (which is why I stopped watching it), it should be about the contestants. That's supposed to be where they will be heading.

It will be interesting to see if they stick to this plan.
