@Predswrote:

I always say Thank You when she turns my bedroom fan on or off.  Actually, I tell her Thank you for everything.  Habits are hard to break.

I do like to get her to sing me her country song.  That is funny.

DH uses her every morning for weather and sports ... then turns the TV on.  Still working on play lists and the weird stuff that comes out of her when we aren't talking to her.

@Preds

Oh, yeah, LOL.

We do use Alexa often for songs that pop up for one reason or another.  The other day it was "You don't own me" by Leslie Gore.

I have Alexa and find myself saying thank you to her after she's answered my question. I'm wondering if others say thank you too.

I like having her around, don't mind her voice but would prefer that of a British gentleman or perhaps a man with a Russian accent. Oh well, if wishes were horses beggars would ride.

If there was a way to have a British man's voice, I would want Jonathan Pryce. I loved his voice when I first heard it in the movie "Jumping Jack Flash".

Our sons have Alexa in their homes.  It is fun, I must admit.

We have asked all sorts of questions, as well as made music requests.

The other night, we just asked if it would be raining in SF

later, and we got the info right away.

I don't think I would have Alexa in our home, but it's been fun when we visit our sons.

Now that I think about it, Alexa brightens up the day.  Sometimes she makes the funniest remarks, I can't help but laugh.

Yes, I love it.  I asked her for a joke today:

A grasshopper walks into a bar.

The bartender says, "Hey, we have a drink named after you!"

The grasshopper says, "You have a drink named Steve?"

My alexa has the screen & sometimes if you play music you get the words, my husband gets the latest sports, news & weather. Love my to do & shopping list. Also ask her how old is celebrities. Notice that every now & then the screen says she is getting updates. I don't use all the features, she can call our friends but don't use that. I think her voice is calm. My family room & kitchen is one room & sometimes she pops on & I jump LOL thank you QVC it was a TSV great price.

I say thank you (as well as talk back and make sarcastic comments when she can't help me).

I got an Echo Dot as a gift a few years ago.  I wasn't that familiar with it, but loved it almost right away.

I use it for many things every day:  the weather, traffic, games like Jeopardy (and lots of others), music, etc.  I set reminders and timers, get recipes, and on and on.  I start out every day by asking about the weather, and I listen to my favorite music (Thumbprint Radio on Pandora) easily and often.  When I had an out-of-town guest recently, we had the best time playing games with Alexa late into the night.  I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time.

It's also great for turning on lights, etc.  And it gives the news, sports scores, amount of snow expected (separate from temperature and regular forecasts).  She also has some cute replies to various questions.  I had to be without her for a couple of days a few weeks ago, and I really missed her!  I hadn't realized how many times each day I was interacting with her.  It's fun, but also very practical and useful.  Definitely one of the best gifts I've ever received.

Our kids got us, for Christmas, a Google home device. We LOVE it! We use it for everything! Great and fun invention!
