Re: Alexa demo on QVC..lol..

I don't know why they decided on the name 'Alexa', since it's super popular right now. I have at least one Alexa in each of my JHS classes. What happens in that case? Does it respond everytime you call the child's name? That could get messy, lol.

Oh my goodness, Shorty.  That can be a problem.  I'm wondering if others unknowingly have items on order.  ........Actually, if we stop and think about it, would it be possible for someone to 'hack' into the Alexa gadget?  Order items and have them sent somewhere else?  ........ Always something to worry about.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I have a code on my Echo so Alexa always asks for the code before ordering anything.

Re: Alexa demo on QVC..lol..

One night I was in the living room and couldn't sleep; QVC on in the background.  I was reading and all of a sudden, Alexa spoke up Re my pizza order.  I wrote to QVC and told them, maybe they shouldn't wake up all the Alexa's in the world and have them order pizza.   I think you can name her Amazon as well.  I have a tap in the bedroom which works out better.

But, I love Alexa

That is funny.  I know this whole Alexa technology is the wave of the future, but I find it a bit creepy !

I doubt it is a wave of the future. Sounds like an experiment like the pet rock...a new toy. And it seems to have a lot of issues that makes it not work very well.

You may be surprised by the number of gadgets in many homes that have the capability to eavesdrop on people. That sort of technology is not going away, it's becoming more common.

That is one thing I worry about ... being spied on by my devices at home.  Sadly, I don't trust anything anymore.
