Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta Antics

[ Edited ]

One thing our balloon pilots love to do is a splash and dash in the nearby Rio Grande River which splits the city in half.  It's a rite of passage for "newbies" participating in the fiesta for the first time.

Over the week-end there were about 15 kyakers in the water doing "high fives" with people in the balloon baskets.

The area along the river is called the "bosque" and has trails for biking, walking and horseback riding.  The trees are all cottonwoods and in a couple of weeks that whole forest will be solid yellow.  You can tell they're starting to change now.  We had some snow last night on the mountain East of town.

The big blue dog is "Bidu" and the other Special Shape is "Bill the Vampire" --  both from Brazil.

After a bumpy start, yesterday turned out pretty great!  I had balloons over my house.
