I’m in South Texas, AC is always on, few times in winter it doesn’t kick in and I use the heater maybe two three times during winter.

@Dinaki   Thank you for the recommendation.  We did look into a similar unit, but to cool our entire house the price was awful.  The way our upstairs is laid out getting the air to the front of the house (upstairs) is difficult.

A few days ago temps were in the high 90s. AC was definitely turned on. Now, though, temps are in the high 60s to low 70s.

I have not turned on the A/C yet but do anticipate turning it on this week. I have been able to stay comfortable with just using the ceiling fan thus far. The A/C technician will be here @ 8:00 tomorrow morning to check it.

@Dinaki  We have a heat pump.....heat in winter....cools house in summer. It came on over the last few days when the house got up to 72 degrees upstairs.....it cools the house to 72 degrees with the warmer temps....and in the winter, warms the house to 68 degrees.

Nice  thing about a heat pump is that it keeps our electricity bill really low  year round.  Much more economical than just a air conditioner and seperate furnace.

In a hot year round climate I imagine you donot need a furnace for heat in the winter?

If people in Oklahoma ever get past March without it, it would be on the National News!

True story.  After my dad died we wouldn't go for the weekend to mother's house for at least a month every spring 'cause the a/c didn't come on until sometime is late April or May.

We learned the hard way on that one.  We'd even offer to pay and get "the look!"  Woman Wink

I don't have central air.  I do have a small unit in my bedroom for the few days it is warm enough to need it.  It is not humid here in the PNW.

@Dinaki

Nope! Haven't used our central AC for about 12 years now. Our 4 season  patio room has heat/air unit, and every room in our house has ceiling fans, 2 in our big kitchen.

If my wife is off Pet Sitting even the patio room AC is off, it has a ceiling fan. I am used to heat and humidity. When it climbs above 95°, I just bring in one of our 4 commercial 23" fans.

Air moves/sweat on body absorbed and body cooled. Good enough for me and our furry ones. Doors and windows on every side of our patio room, lots of air movement.

Wife home, patio AC set at 83°. No humidity and we are both just fine.

@Dinaki We're just outside Chicago and we've had some 90's and very high humidity,so we did have the central air on a few days.  Now it's lovely, 70's daytime 50's night time. But it's supposed to heat up again later this week. I don't like to put it on in May,but I can't stand the humidity.
