Why should the onus be on the reader to look it up, when the poster is making the statement -- without any proof or source or anything? Anyone can post anything - however true or not - without any documentation.

If it's pretty common knowledge and yet somehow a reader knows nothing about it while others do, it IS on her or him to look it up, not on someone else to do their homework for them.

The question is... why are some people so uninformed to begin with? They should learn to read about various subjects on their own so that others are not always called upon to spoon-feed them.
