After being on this forum I understand the reviews I read on QVC

I always read reviews on items if they are available. I could never figure out the huge discrepancy between the reviews. Most will give an item five stars and then sprinkled in there are 1 star reviews saying what a piece of junk something is or something very derogatory about the item when most have touted the fantastic properties about the item.

I see the opinions on this forum about anything and everything and people's points of view are as opposite as the sun and the moon!! Now it all makes sense to me.

I think the Dyson conversations on the forum over the weekend sumed it all up as well.

I find many people on this BB are faithful to a product or a vendor NO MATTER WHAT.No matter if they are way way way overpriced - uglier than dirt - cheapened to the point of being less than Walmart quality - those who are addicted to a certain product, for the most part, find a way to defend it. It's actually comical sometimnes.

Reviews are like that all over. Yelp reviews are just the same. I saw one today where a guy really hated a dentist and left a scathing review, but when I looked up the reviewer's other reviews, he was rude about everything. He doesn't leave good reviews, just mean ones. QVC reviews are no different, some people gush about everything and others hate everything.

I agree. I am often amazed that different people can have such different experiences with the same product. Not opinions, since those can vary, but experiences. For example: either the vacuum cleaner/foundation/computer/sprinkler/grill works as intended, or they don't.

I find most of the reviews helpful, even when there is disagreement. In some cases, careful reading of the details can explain disparities. For example, with clothing, sometimes sizing was off (runs large or small...helpful in knowing what size I should order) or colors didn't appear the same in person as it did on screen. Fabrics can be too stiff for some but nice and crisp to others. However, when there is universal disdain for a product, I stay away. I would hope QVC uses that information to do better in the future.

Why would anyone give a good review on something that wasn't good? Even if I have always liked certain brands, if something I ordered was not that great, I would give it the review I thought it deserved - regardless of whether I really liked the vendor or not.

Does the Q still allow people to review an item they have not purchased? I believe they do and that's a huge mistake. It's just inviting people to knock something they don't like but have not bought or just to give a bad review out of mischief. At HSN you must have purchased the item and you must have had it for at least 5 days before they allow you to post a review.
