Advise please / my 16 year old son

I don't usually son't post in this forum but thought it might be the best place to do so.

I have a 16 year old son our only child. He has always been a good boy and given us little trouble. He and his dad have buttted heads quite a bit over the last year which has put a wedge in their relationship from time to time but things usally go back to normal.

Right before Christmas I found a few questionable things in his room that really upset me. I don't know what to do. I didn't want to disrupt everyone's Christmas so I thought that I would wait. I don't know whether to speak to my son about it first and have him tell his dad or just tell my husband or not tell my husband at all because he is going to go balistic! I sure would appreciate some insight here as I cannot talk to anyone I know about this. Thank you in advance.
