I agree, it was a nap. Your neighbor has no obligation to your naptimes. I understand you were feeling ill.

I am going through kind of the same thing, only on the other side. I live in a high rise and have a stereo system with a sub. I have lived here for a year and a half. I have never had a noise complaint and I have been very open to my neighbors if you have a problem let me know. No problems, great.

I had a new neighbor move in and immediately she has a problem with my sub. Ok sorry, I adjust the settings in the sub and lower them, move the sub away from the wall a bit. Stop playing Rap music, I keep my volume much lower on the whole stereo system out of respect for her. She still complains. I can hear it on a Friday night at 7 pm, It was kind of loud last Saturday night blah, blah, blah. The other night she texts me at 9:30 pm you woke me up. The volume was so low I could barely hear it and was getting ready to turn it off anyway. I respect our quiet hours and I even play it much less. I don't watch TV I listen to music. I used to listen from the time I got up until I went to bed. Now I barely turn it on because I am sick of listening to her. How is this fair to me? I have a right to enjoy my home as much as she does. I pay the same rent she does and yet, I feel she has lessened the enjoyment of my home.

It's sad that unless you're in an HOA, you can do very little until after 10PM. I've seen HOA's shut down daytime noise. Personally, I feel loud music should be contained in our homes regardless of the hour. Special occasion exceptions only.

I do not want to hear the base of rap/rock blasting through every room of my home. It can drive one nuts.

For me, I had to do a lot of day sleeping due to hospital work. With sometimes only a few hours to sleep coming home from a 12hr (+) nightshift, before returning to work. This is/was also the case for some of my neighbors.

We should always be able to rest in our homes, but I've seen people have to move due to these situations for some peace. Unthinkable!

@MG Chris Yes, give this some thought. Surely you are aware - subwoofers create strong vibrations that carry through walls, floors.

Your neighbor is hearing and feeling the vibrations of the lower bass range. You don't notice this but she does, been there.

I am very aware and understand and that is why I am trying to be respectful. My building is completely concrete and I think she over complicates things. I think she is a complainer anyways from other things she has said so I avoid her if at all possible.

Honestly....I find this to be true.

There is a rental two houses down from me and I have lived through several versions of what you are currently encountering.

I have however called the police a couple times, on different occupants, as they "invited" me to do so.

I have lived in my home for 30 years and neighborhoods definitely change over time, for the most part the neighbors here are reasonable and mindful of others.
It is unfortunate that some neighbors have to impose their inconsideration on others.

We live in a very quiet neighborhood. Recently the home next door to us sold. The new people have a son in his late 20's living with them. He has no job, but, spends a lot of time working on his truck. A lot of nights, we can hear him revving that truck up at 1:00 - 2:00 in the morning. Really makes for a bad night of sleep. Hate to say anything and create an uncomfortable situation. So, I understand how you are feeling.

I admit, I haven't read every comment, but here's my take, popular or not...

Everyone has the right to enjoy their home they way they see fit, not only in the ways you or I deem acceptable. You chose to take your nap at a particular time of day when others are up doing their thing. Unfortunately you were awakened. If it was after 9 or 10 PM, it would be a problem. But during the day? No. It's no different for a person who likes to sleep until 10 AM to be awakened by an early riser who decides to mow their lawn at 8AM. Noise is noise whether it's weird music or a tractor. Sometimes we just have to be tolerant rather than cause a stir with the neighbors.

Lasted over 5 hours and enough time for the surrounding neighbors to hear it. A party with no cars??? Not likely. Strange music probably not my generation. But loud is loud and the noise travelled 2 blocks and around the corner. I am just hoping they are over it. My across the road neighbor is willing to call police and confront them. I am willing to give them one more chance before I respond. But how to respond is my question.
