Re: Adult Coloring Books

[ Edited ]

Forgot to add that the last time I was at Walmart I found some new Crayola crayons.  They have boxes of 24 in Neon, Glitter and Confetti.  Also Colors of Kindness and Colors of the World.

Of course I bought myself a box of each!  🤣🤣🤣🤣

My coloring book collection and coloring pencils and pens has grown exponentially over the years.

I have a shoe box full of pencils and pens and a storage hassock full of books.   The glitter pens are fun and also get some of the metallic pencils.

Dover Publications sends out a regular email with links to sample pages from their books .... and as you can guess, I have a stack of those pages.

I enjoyed coloring when the adult books came out a few years ago. When the pandemic hit I rediscovered my stash of coloring books. pencils, and pens. It is so cheerful and relaxing to spend time coloring when my daily chores are done.

I have always loved to color. I loved it as a child. We had folders with detailed black and white designs that we colored. I have a few coloring books and a huge set of colored pencils. It is very relaxing for me to sit and color.

I love my coloring books. It IS very relaxing. My favorites are the complicated mandala designs. I always put my book pages on the printer and make copies and I color on the copies. That way I can use water soluable crayons and it doesn't go through to the next page when I apply water w/ with my brush to blend. ***Neocolor II makes great water soluable pencils/crayons. Neolcolor 1 sets are permanent. Uh, if you get both, put a bit of washi tape on the end of the crayons in one set or the other. They all look the same.

@Shanus  The Mandalas are my favorite also. Thanks for your tip about using  Neocolor 1 and II.

@alliswell   You're so welcome. You can get dark rich color with the ones that are permanent...similar to using a Sharpie, but doesn't soak through the paper.

My mother LOVES her coloring books but originally thought I was crazy for bringing them up years ago. She can no longer do a lot of her other crafting, but she is still able to color. I think it’s good for her hands.

My brother (who is almost 60 BTW) is the main provider of her coloring books. And I just get such a good giggle when I imagine him at his local WalMart looking for coloring books for her! 😊

Coloring is very relaxing . Most of my books are Mandalas. Some are florals and one is a book of wild birds and song birds.

Two books are Art Nouveau designs from the famous works of

Alphonse Mucha. My pencils are a set of 150 polychromos made by Faber-Castell in Germany. They are some of the best pencils to work with and are available in smaller sets from Cheap Joes

art supplies.

My eyes just aren't up to the task of coloring in those tiny lines. I try and do brain-stretching games like crosswords to try and keep my wits about me!
