We recently adopted a rescued 4 year old male cat, Buddy. He is very sweet and affectionate, but seems terrified of anything that is above him. We think he may have been abused at some point from above (maybe thrown down stairs or something similar) but that's only a guess. We have tried to keep him in amused with some kitty toys, hoping he would calm down, no interesrt so far.
He has had a couple of accidents, once on a daybed in the basement. Is this common when a cat is in a new environment? I want him to feel safe, but hate to come home to clean up an unexpected mess. Any suggestions from anyone?
