Re: Adages - Old, New, Created, or Found

A couple funny ones I heard my dad use a few times...

He said, "You make a better door than a window" when we blocked his view of the TV set.

When someone did something stupid he'd say,

"He's sharp as a tack with a head on both ends".
That one was not directed at us.

Don't do the same thing twice or you'll be doing the same thing twice --from The Tin Drum

Good advice, takes me more than twice to learn the lesson.

Waste not, Want not.

Treat others the way you want to be treated.

"Love of money is the root of all evil."

Train/Teach up a child in the way s/he should go, & s/he will not depart from it.

My father used to say, along with many others that now I can't seem to remember, the following:

Don't assume anything, it'll make an A** out of u and me.  I have remembered that many times and it has served me well.

some people need to use a glue stick instead of a Chapstick.
