He was a really good actor.  He in the Elephant Man and in Harry Potter, among his other films and he also did  a lot of stage work.  He was 77 yrs. old.

Surprising, I didn't read that.  I can't remember the actress'name but she was in her 90's and quite famous in her day, she passed away too.  There it is....death in 3's.

Barbara Hale  are you thinking about who played Della Street in Perry Mason?

Actually I don't believe in that "death in threes" and in this case there are four very recent celebrity deaths: MTM, Mike Connors, John Hurt and Barbara Hale.

It was airplane crashes that - back in the 1960s - seem to happen in threes.  I don't think celebrity deaths do. And they are regular people anyway - more than three people die every day.

So many wonderful performances and one of my favorite actors.  He had the ability to make me cry.  Easily and often.

His best performance was in 'I, Claudius' playing the mad emperor Caliguia.    Like most great actors he had a drinking problem.
