"The study adds to the considerable evidence that autism is a condition caused by genetics, and also adds to a growing body of evidence that each person with autism has his or her own pattern of DNA changes"
From the original article.
BRAIN STUDY SUGGESTS AUTISM STARTS BEFORE BIRTH
The differences are seen both on the genetic level and in the physical structure of the brain, and strongly support what scientists have been saying for years — that autism starts with disrupted genes that somehow interfere with brain development.

Good to know about the new discoveries re: genes, etc. It gives me hope that genetic studies will eventually solve many medical problems. ............. Also, though, I can also feel that some children are very sensitive (I'm sensitive to many things, (even strong laundry dryer sheets/detergents which literally turn my stomach), and most likely normal shots now-a-days could/would affect my system.); And so I can truly understand how some children might have low to serious reactions to various meds., shots, etc. I believe reading somewhere that kids seem to have more allergies now-a-days. (?) Peanuts, etc., etc. Nothing that we think about this matter is impossible. And anything is possible. I'm hoping that there could be an antidote for autism. Very sorry to often hear about this unfortunate condition.

Hi @ROMARY
I don't think anything is possible here. I could list many, many things that could not cause autism because they have no link to children.
Consider this: NUMEROUS studies over several years are showing autism begins BEFORE birth, genetically and in the structure of the brain. Vaccinations come several years after that.

p.s. I have an idea..........Maybe one day there could be a sensitivity test available for young babies/children. Could be that some systems are allergic to something in various shots/meds. I'm wondering if anyone has looked into International studies (if any at all) regarding this matter. I've found, throughout the years, that international 'societies', 'associations', etc. have been very helpful to folks I know around here. Sometimes studies/research overseas have a bit of info that we over here don't yet have available to the general public right now. Not released (or approved) yet, etc. Might take a few/couple more years for approval. It's always worth a try. Just suggesting because of personal observations/experiences with friends, etc. Sometimes an individual's doc hasn't yet heard or read the latest developments overseas. They are very busy, after all. Not much time in the day to read about every single little thing worldwide. Anyway, it's worth a free 'look-see', as many have thanked me for the suggestion. Good luck to all. ............ Edited: Maybe they're allergic because of babies'/childrens' genetic disposition. Those genes just cannot handle certain things. That's why it's important to figure out which genes are prone to various environmental attacks, and how to solve the problem genetically. I know, I'm always thinking about 'this and that', but who knows what the future will bring to us. What sounds odd or impossible now just may be the solution many years later. Genetic research will eventually be the key that unlocks the door. There is always hope.

Genetic means an inherited tendency or cause. They have found DNA differences in some families, in their genes.
The most recent study found genetic mutations (changes) in 18 additional genes.
Our DNA is what makes us each an individual. It is with us since conception. We are talking about development while still a fetus, in the uterus/womb. Being born with that structure, that map.

I DO have a child with autism, so I figure I am entitled to an opinion. I personally do not believe vaccinations cause autism. I believe science has debunked this.
When I look back, my daughter showed signs from infancy, before vaccinations. She was breast fed, so she was "all natural" even showing things I later felt were related to autism. I had difficulty feeling bonded. She pulled away from me and never showed the preference for me over others (like strangers). She was hyperactive even as an infant. She didn't want to be cuddled, only climbed me.
I believe there is a form of autism that presents itself as a sudden loss of development, even regressing. I believe it occurs around age 2 or so. So it could coincide with vaccinations but not be related. Perhaps there is a tiny subset of children that react to it, just like any other drug.
It certainly would be nice to have as much information as possible.

Medical information from various countries is routinely shared with other MDs and scientists.
There are a variety of medical journals shared and read by hospitals and individual MDs. They don't keep their findings secret, they share them.
Many of the studies from around the world are also available online.

It's good that the reseach is ongoing. But there is no good news in this report. None at all. I say that because if it is true that each individual has their own genetic "recipe" that caused the autism and many, many separte genes were involved....omg....the magnitude of a cure is too large to calculate. It's not one disease, it's one separate disease for each individual who has it. Granted, they are treating many disease with gene specific drugs now and it seems like that will be the route they take with autism. But it's not going to be any time soon. That was my take on the article anyway.
