@jlkz

'Tis the season ...

I just got an email saying my Apple Pay has been locked and in order to unlock it, I have to follow their link. I would never follow anything, but I don't even use Apple Pay. Never set it up. These scammers should put their energy into something productive. Geesh.

Thanks for the warning! Happy Thanksgiving!

Re: APPLE ID scam messages………

I ended up getting two different scams, one for my Amazon account saying someone signed into my account in India and call the number provided. Also, one for my Amex card. I got a text with a code and a number to verify my identity. Plus I got three calls from that number also. I’ll watch out for the Apple one, thank you for the heads up.

@OneHappyHikerI don't even have an iPhone.  But, I do have a Mac, and I can't even get into my AppleID account.  I never use it and I never use their Cloud either.  I just dismiss that popup about signing into my AppleID (which does come from Apple), so I'd just ignore an E-mail about it.

I'm getting the scam messages right now about how i've been charged some ungodly amount for my yearly subscription to a Virus Barrier.  I always get an E-mail from MY Virus Barrier BEFORE it renews.  It must be a common time for renewals of Virus Barriers since I got them last year this time of year too.

@Icegoddess  Agree! It's crazy! It just makes me think about all these people using their time trying to take advantage of people.... and they do succeed or they wouldn't be doing it! If they would spend time doing something good, wouldn't that be wonderful for us all! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

@Poohbear52 Getting all those scams, especially around the same time, it always makes me pay so much more attention to be totally aware BEFORE thinking anything is legit. Even when we do get legitimate emails, we never call the number, click the link, or hit reply lol. We go around the long way... look up the number, go into our account, or look up their email from our file. We simply do not trust anything anymore... including these people trying to phone scam! Yes, thanks @jlkz for starting this great reminder thread! Happy Thanksgiving!

Onehappyhiker, for a split second I always get worried, then realize it’s a scam. Have to always be vigilant and never trust a number given to you, always call the number on the back of any of your cards. Happy thanksgiving everyone

Re: APPLE ID scam messages………

I would go directly to my credit cards or bank accounts to see if anything has been taken or debited there.  If nothing has then ignore.

You know that they are probably just "phishing" for your information.

Re: APPLE ID scam messages………

Apple always sends me receipts via email of any Apple purchases.  No need to click anything.  I pay Apple with a credit card.  One can always call the credit card company if one thinks a charge is suspicious.

I recommend use of bank credit cards.  They really protect us.  I have had them issue credits for items not delivered a few times.  Am Ex is particularly good.
