Re: ANY SPECIAL IDEAS FOR SNOW DAYS?

@makeup addict  Apologize to your beagle puppy, but near triangle area and about 4" of snow...less than predicted but temps tomorrow will be 0...lowest in recorded history!!! My 2 beagles went out at 5:30AM & skampered for 5 minutes & ran back to their bed in front of fireplace. Your puppy isn't missing anything but cold paws.

Re: ANY SPECIAL IDEAS FOR SNOW DAYS?

I have a high efficiency furnace that vents out the side of my house, rather than up the chimney. When we get a significant amount of snow (8+ inches at one time), my biggest concern is making sure that the vent pipes aren't clogged with snow. That happened once and my furnace, doing what it's supposed to do, shut off in the middle of the night. I may not want to go outside, but I must to make sure the pipes are clear.

NC and surrounding areas expecting 6"-9" of snow tonite & tomorrow. Quite a storm for here. Grocery shelves cleared off yesterday morning, but before I stocked up on essentials like wine & whatever I can cook on gas grill.

My list of "to dos":

1. I have ingredients for a big pot of chili tonite.

2. Great time to clean out closets & drawers.

3. Baking Banana Breads for freezer

4. Finishing some special order jewelry pieces in studio

5. Watching a list of must see movies on Apple TV

6. Oh. Shoveling a path for my beagles to go potty (guess that should be # 1)

7. Finish reading PURPOSE OF DOGS before movie comes out

8. Pray TV/power stays on

9. Have spa time: try new makeup looks, mani/pedi & do a facial

10. Plan a nap in afternoons for sure!!!

I'm in Florida now, but Tequila is part of the bad weather exerience and in my survival/evacuation kit.

I'm from up north so 6 inches of snow wouldn't be considered a snow day unless the wind was fierce.  Maybe put a puzzle together while you wait for the roads to be cleared.

Re: ANY SPECIAL IDEAS FOR SNOW DAYS?

Flpsy, I'm in SW Fla and I am cold! We are right on Charlotte Harbor and there is a wind chill: we are getting down to the low 40's tonight.

We are going out for dinner tonight at a lovely Peruvian restaurant my son found.  I plan on starting my meal with a bowl of their chicken soup followed by something spicy.

Tequila is great stuff! For our friends up North, might I suggest they entertain Mr.J. Daniels, or Mr J. Walker? Both of these gentlemen love coffee, and if you would like to top off your coffee with a bit of whipped cream, feel free!

Stay warm,

Poodlepet2

Re: ANY SPECIAL IDEAS FOR SNOW DAYS?

Winter is my favorite season. I bundle up and go OUT. Last night, I was taking a moonlit walk on the frozen lake--heaven!--when suddenly thr lights inside the homes went out. I have no idea what caused the power outage because we had no storm. but it was enchanting. I slid and walked back to our place and up the hill to our house. So beautiful! My husband was asleep, so I lit an oil lamp and delighted in feeling as if I had stepped back into a scene from a Laura Ingalls Wilder book! The power was back on within an hour or so. The snow missed us, unfortunately.

Six inches is perfect for a snow day.
