They are relentless. We are planning on getting rid of our landline, which does NOT have an option for blocking calls. One day, there were about 5 calls from the same number, which was a fake Microsoft spam call. Yesterday, a bunch from "Social Security". Congress needs to pass a law to prohibit this type of harrassment, or to make phone companies do it for us.

@cotto22 Bless your heart. Sometimes it’s good to know you’re not alone. I agree we must get Congress more involved and action for legislation against these intruders. It’s a slow go but I’ll keep writing to our rep and hope for change.

We just got a call on our landline not to long ago from a computer virus company. The robot told us that if we did not call them to cancel our subscription to their virus program our credit card would be charged 299.00. We don't even bother answering it anymore. Every once in awhile I get one on my cell phone. Since that is the number I give out now I answer it if it looks to be in my area, . Most are from Jamica and I just block those calls.
I don't think anyone can do anything about them. They will just find another way to scam people. The one from Microsoft had called my Aunt a few years back. She told me this and said she had written the number down and needed to call them back. I explained how it was spam and her computer has no virus protection on it as it is and is super old. If they had ever gotten into her computer they would have probably had all her viruses downloaded into their computer.

@nekodaisy That’s a new one on me and and scary. I agree, it’s unbelievable that in today’s technology more progress cannot be made.
Stay strong and let’s hope for the best.

There is zero reason today for this to drive you crazy. There are soooo many options that block these calls. I haven't been bothered by one in ages. If someone calls and they are in my contact list, the call gets through. If not, it goes to voice mail and is marked 'unknown caller'. My phone doesn't even ring. Nothing driving me crazy.
Your a VERY lucky person!!!!
All the fancy call blockers Ive used dont stop them from calling on my cell phone....I go to block the number and it is one Ive supposedly already have blocked.....Its because they spoof numbers so the number displayed isnt even really the number they called from......Also I get voice mail and its in Chinese....

Me too! I've decided to let all calls go to voice mail. AARP magazine has a good article this month on scam calls. It said people are not answering their phones, and letting everything go to voice mail.
I'm sorry I just have to laugh...AARP..I find them a bit hypiocritical one of the biggest offenders of telemarketing calls--especially those from United Health Care and all their other third party affiliates...and I never asked for info, nor contacted them nor even was a member of AARP....Someone told me about opting out of AARP. The minute I opted out of AARP solicitations for them and their 3rd party affiliates on AARP'S website my robo calls and telemarketing calls were cut in half......

Hi Spurt. If your cell phone is an iPhone, use the "Do not disturb" feature. It will let all calls coming in ring IF it is in your contact list. You can answer or let it go to VM. If the call is from someone not in your contacts list, it will go to voice mail. They can leave a message (which friends and family will) or not leave one (most robo calls). You don't even hear the phone ring with the latter.
I did add people to my contacts list that I wanted to know were calling but I didn't have to because they could have left a VM for me. It has made a huge difference for us. No ringing from robo or spam calls.
If your phone isn't an iPhone , I don't know but I suspect many smartphones have the Do Not Disturb feature. Good luck.
