ALLERGIC TO SHELLFISH?

[ Edited ]

Well, THIS is definitely at the top of my list of useless information found online this week ......

Don’t eat cicadas if you’re allergic to seafood, the FDA warns

Darn!   Yes, I'm allergic to shellfish ....  and was SO looking forward to trying a nice cicada salad this weekend ..... ha ha ha

source:  The Washington Post.

Well, consider yourself warned!  LOL  Woman LOL

There is a difference between seafood and shellfish.  I can eat seafood but not shellfish.

Think I'll choose to be allergic to cicadas.

Actually, all insects, which includes Cicadas, are high in protein, and people have been covering them in chocolate, deep frying them,  etc.

I'm with you, if I were lost in the wilderness where only cicadas were a food source, I'd be eating plants instead!

I hear they taste --- just like chicken Woman Wink.  But, isn't that what 'they' always say about questionable edibles. Fool me once...

Yes, and they say that about frog's legs, soo.   Years ago I dined in an exclusive restaurant in Paris, and one of their specialties was frogs legs.  So, I tried them.  When I got over the idea of what it was, it tasted like chicken ......  very expensive chicken.

@Tinkrbl44 Several years ago, I was talked into ordering frog legs at an upper scale restaurant. After a cocktail, I felt empowered to take the challenge. They were delicious. And, yes, they DID taste like chicken. Actually more flavorful than some chicken I've had.

Ha ha!

No more than one minute ago I swiped at one of those uglies that landed on my doorstep as I was coming back into the house from picking up the mail.

Used a bit of junk mail to swat it away as I muttered somthing about my disgust for it.

Gads, but I am dodging these flying creeps all over the place outside.  We have far fewer this time, though, since we've lost several trees in the front yard since the insects' last unwelcome appearance.   Before, it was beyond intolerable!  It is close now but not as wretched as in cicada generations past.

Their noise is deafening!  My niece (who lives in nearby Maryland, which is also afflicted with the presence of Generation X) stopped by this week and could not believe how loud our chorus of cicadas is.  She lives in front of a forest, too.
