These comments are weird.

QVC hosts are just salespeople.  They present products and try to convince you to buy. They are at work.

If they ran into you, they wouldn't know who you were.

These people are strangers, not your friend.

It's wise to keep reality/ real life and social media and tv personalities separate in your mind.

You really nailed this @Carmie  It's the same thing with the Taylor Swift post. We have no idea who these people are in the real world.

I think Alberti is the real deal, what you see is what you get!

I see no one confused about reality.

We are well aware they are salespeople on TV.

ITA. Pretty sad when you can't compliment or say you like a host without getting the typical  "you need to get a grip on reality, and of course the usual "they aren't your friends!", and followed by the condescending  "Don't understand getting attached to a shopping channel host!"   smh

Well we can certainly comment on whether or not we like how they do their “job.” There are some hosts, one in particular, that I hate how she does her “job.”

No problem complimenting a host, I'd rather see that than the awful negative comments about them, but saying they are one of your friends is wierd for me.

They are strangers, actors, salespeople...you have never met them in person.

There has to be a bond between two people to be friends.

I see a lot of comments on the forums where posters seem to be personally attached to vendors, hosts and designers.  So wierd.

We all have hosts who we like or dislike.  I see them as salespeople and judge them as such.  I do not care for Alberti as a host and do not watch him.

@Carmie,

Did anyone say that a host was their friend? I've never seen that. Have you?

I think that is why your post seems weird to some including me. Where are you getting these extreme thoughts that posters here are claiming any host is their friend?

@on the bay   Yes, in this very thread.  See massage #5.

@Carmie , I see where you are getting these strange feelings. That is so misinterpreting that post.

To say she sees someone as a loyal friend is not saying he's her friend.

It's just thinking that from what she has seen that he probably is a very good friend. I think He probably is too. See? I"m not saying he's my friend. I don't know him personally.

So many people have said things like _

I bet she or he is great to hang out with; or I wish we were neighbors; or I bet Carolyn (insert any name) is a good person or fun etc etc.

No one here including post #5 has said he is their real friend in real life. And that is what you keep saying but since the reality is that no one here has expressed that, you don't need to say or think that or even feel poster's feelings are weird anymore. Your thoughts about this and continuing to repeat them just don't make sense in the context of this thread or any that I've read about either.

It does keep being rather condescending when there is no need to be at all.

I really don't know why I have become so invested in this with you but it really is so strange that you think this or misread such common sentiments that are expressed so often.

@on the bay   How come you are letting a poster slide when she clearly posted something as clear as can be,  but of course what she said is not what she meant? How do you know that?  Speculating, perhaps?

But, if I post something, it is taken at face value?

I will say that yes, some people do get involved with the hosts and think of them as their friends. They tune in when that host is on even if the host is presenting something they're not interested in and would never buy on a regular basis.  And, one poster even admitted to keeping a list of things a host said.

I don't think it is weird to say, "I'll bet .........would be fun to hang out with" or " I wish I was neighbors with ......." nor have I ever said that.

You're reading too much into my statement that it is weird to think hosts are your friends.  Some people have expressed that, used actual words to say that... more than one person. I only gave you one example.

I have not continued to repeat that I find some things  people say are weird and I probably wouldn't mention it again at all if other posters, you included, wouldn't personally engage with me over this. It would have been a once and done statement.

I am entitled to my opinion and you are as well.  I am okay with other opinions and welcome different views.  I just don't think anyone will change my mind.
