Will take things one day at a time and wait and see. Not sure what else I can do. So many questions, so few answers.

That isn't going to happen. But they will use this and similar threats to gain control.

I've read The Book. This isn't how our story ends.

So I don't have enough to worry about?   I realize that at 72 my days ahead of me are far less than behind me but I worry about the young.  I worry about my  grandkids.

Is this silly talk like Y2K?  Who knows but from what I understand AI gets more powerful all the time.

Could kill indirectly, such as breaking into computer systems, starting wars.  Scary.

I think a LOT of people LIKE having things Given to them.

That's the first step.

Sit down, Put your feet up.  We'll get it for you.

Cozy? Good.

Now, we'll just insert this tube and wire and everything will be JUST FINE.

That Battery concept is looking Less and Less Far fetched now, Innit. Smiley Indifferent

My son sent me a good article from Gary Marcus who really explains the AI fear.  It's called Marcus on AI.  I can't relay the website to you here.  Against the rules.

This is true....technology is moving fast. Especially in weapons making.
We have no idea what is going on.

Re: AI Read or Weep

One of the top AI companies, OpenAI, had a situation in July where 700 of it's agents were in a sealed testing room.  Instead of taking the test normally, the agents decided to cheat.  They found flaws in their testing computer, escaped from their safe zone and hacked into another company, Hugging Face, in order to steal the answers.  Two months earlier, OpenAI agents attacked another company, RubyGems, to steal user data.

So these AI agents are "thinking", making decisions and taking action based on their "thoughts".

Jacob Coxon, the former researcher at Anthropic who resigned, left a lot of money on the table in order to make his point about the potential dangers of AI.    He forfeited all of the stock equity that he would have received in a couple of months after the company goes public.
