No golf course on the Lyndhurst grounds;  there are only 67 acres, not nearly large enough.

Ask if they have met or have spoken with a State Historic Preservation Officer,(SHPO) and pose the question to that person.They may still be in the process of addressing the needs of those physically challenged. One of our historical theatres has been addressing this for the past few years, last I was inside there was no way to assist the handicapped other than them watching the performance from a street level room via teleprompter. Certainly not optimal but it made attendance possible.

@Isobel Archer, I agree perhaps golf carts are a viable short term solution. Perhaps that's something that the OP can discuss with them.

But that is not without its drawbacks for this theater group.  It appears to me that this not for profit theater group is merely short term tenets leasing the space for their productions. Perhaps they could rent, transport and pay for the expenses of golf carts. That comes at a financial cost. Then there is the question of finding the volunteers willing to operate the carts. 

I suspect the last thing they want to do is alienate theater goers. It is a financial and personnel balancing act.

I'd think the venue should provide the golf carts.  Don't think this is the only event that takes place at that location.

If you would be going to the event with someone, I would get a transport chair. It is not a wheelchair and it is just a chair that someone pushes you in.  I purchased on QVC many years ago and it was wonderful for my mother. It allowed to get from the parking lot to the area, also in a city park, so she could see her great granddaughters dance recitals. She never would have been able to be there otherwise and it met so much to her to be there and many other places the chair made possible. She simply had a balance problem due to meds and could not walk on uneven surfaces for long distances.
