Ever since I was a child, I never understood the big deal about St. Patrick's Day to people who weren't Irish. I can remember not wanting to wear green on the day even in grade school because I wasn't Irish and kids would pinch me. I don't have a problem with any kind of celebration (the world needs more of them), but I guess I've never quite understood the big deal we make out of it here in the U. S.

I'm not Irish and I've got my green on. I've always found it to be a truly fun day. When I was growing up, there was a considerable Irish population in my city. The city always used to do an annual St Patrick's day parade. (Not sure if they still do.) Enjoy the day........Irish or not!!!!!!

The big deal is fun, that's all. The pinch was just a kid thing.
I read there are more people of Irish ancestry in the US than there are in Ireland.
And why not? Chinese New Year is also a big deal in this country as is Oktoberfest for others.

I don't understand why there is not a site-wide sale at Qvc as there are at many online stores today. My email inbox is overflowing with great deals that I definitely will purchase. No easy pay but who cares when you can get 20% off on beauty items and 20% off on Vionics. I even saw 25% off on PTR at one online beauty store. I'm afraid to tell you which stores because I'm under the impression that is no longer allowed, sorry and happy shopping to all!!!!! Got to go and give my business to those very smart stores!!!!

There is an Armenian Day is SF. It's centered in a well known Armenian church, I've been to the celebration.

We do that up big time in my house. DH and I both are also Irish so I get both days ![]()
