My neighbor's son-in-law had a hearing today to see if he is going to be awarded SSD. He had been turned down twice and then got an "advocate" to work with him and today was the big day, I guess.
Anyway, I think when she explained it to me, there was a missing link. She said her SIL told her that if he is approved, then he will have to wait about a year to get medical insurance. That didn't make any sense to me. She also doesn't know whether or not it would be Medicaid or Medicare. He is 53.
His lawyer told him they wouldn't have an answer today but it looked like they won. He thought it looked good too (whatever that meant).....
My question is - which insurance will he be getting? I thought it would be Medicare but now I don't know. TIA
