The employer of a friend of mine sent an e-mail to all employees today telling them to apply for unemployment benefits and they would cooperate promptly so the employees can start getting benefits.  They even gave the website for the employees to go to do this on-line.

I hope other people are experiencing the same encouragement from their employers, especially those who have no other source of income other than their jobs.

Great to hear!

Unfortunately many of the unemployment websites are crashing and state and federal staff are overwhelmed.

I hope all goes through promptly and I am also waiting for the delivery of those federal checks being discussed!

Re: A Wonderful Place to Work

@wismiss    Not trying to appear snarky but what's wonderful about that?  It's every unemployed person's right to file for UI benefits.  Nobody needs an employers permission or invitation to do it.  It is not the employer, but the state agency that administers it, which determine eligibility.  If a person has not worked long enough, he might not be eligible.

If this employer was truly magnanimous, he would have continued their regular salaries.
