We had a little incident this morning. Our little girl ate some road salt and for those that don't know, it can be very toxic to dogs and cats. There was a pile of it and she took a bite of it as we were walking by without even breaking her stride. I screamed so she dropped 'most' of it.
If you ever have to call Animal Poison Control, it's a $65 fee over the phone before they will help you. We called ER vet first and they had us call Poison Control.
We had to give her some TUMS(they recommend Pepcid AC but said our Tums was okay), gave her a syringe of milk and flush with water the rest of the day. Vet said because of amount she possibly ingested, we could monitor her at home but if she starts acting lethargic, throwing-up, drooling, seizing, etc., to bring her to ER...duh.
Just so you all can be aware and knowledgeable about it if you didn't already know.
They do have some deaths from it every year.
