Texas does have its own power grid. How is this misinformation? It was put into place primarily to avoid regulations by any federal regulations.

isn't this cute---this is what Ms Paula CEO of SA's CPS Energy did......
SAN ANTONIO - CPS Energy has filed to suspend the release of information to the public for the past week.
The application, which you can read below, was sent to the Texas Attorney General office Feb. 16, two days after snow piled on San Antonio.
The request, called a Public Information Act Catastrophe Notice, would mean CPS could suspend the requirements of the Public Information Act for seven days. CPS has requested to suspend the act for Feb. 15 through Feb. 21.
CPS Energy claims it was impacted by severe weather, which caused power and transportation failures, along with interruption of communication facilities.
We have reached out to CPS Energy and have been told this will give the agency more time to respond to open records requests. The company said its top priority at the time is to ensure your bills are affordable. The spokesperson told us CPS Energy does plan to respond to open records requests regarding the week of the storm down the road, but did not give a timeline.
The News 4 San Antonio Trouble Shooters will file a request to the AG’s office this week, asking for complete transparency.

@suzyQ3 We know this. We know this. We know this. We know this.
The misinformation is not about that.

@Spurt I mentioned on one of these threads that I could not access certain information on my account-there was a banner across the top indicating what could be seen and not seen.

Yep, Ms. Paula said she removed access since the info was supposedly inaccurate and they were fixing it...but go to Emily Baucum's News4 Troubleshooter Twitter page where she asked her some important questions and wants an answer on behalf of customers ......Something fishy is going on...sounds like a cover up!!!

I'm not a subscriber to the NYT, but was able to read the article. It answers every single question I posed somewhere in one of these threads and now I understand the problem a little better. According to the article, something similar happened in 2011 which should have made them sit up and take notice.
Thanks for sharing.

One thing the City Council stressed at the Emergency Zoom Meeting was the need for communication with the public they want to know what's going on with CPS and SAWS....of course she wasn't there for the main part of the meeting...she sent her "flunky" to field the tough questions from City Council....and she showed up about a minute prior to ending the meeting....and just said some BS---we are so sorry this happened and understand your frustration.....
So now she cuts off the communication and even goes through the Attorney General's Office no less keeping us further in the dark (pardon the pun)....SMH!....

We have not been able to access our usage through PEC (Pedernales Electric Cooperative) since Monday 02/15/2021. That is the day we had what I term "cycling" where, from midnight Sunday to 6:15pm Monday, EVERY 8 MINUTES our power would go off for about 2 seconds and then come right back on. At 6:15pm, that is when the power went off completely for the next 22 hours. Those cycling surges most certainly will cause the usage to surge itself. Guess we will find out when our billing cycle ends on 03/09.

I understand about rates increasing, but wouldn't your usage be less during blackouts and rolling blackouts?
@ValuSkr @Some Texans have chosen to not get variable rates on their consumption. Their bills will be lower than users that took the variable rate option. The reason there's such a price increase is because the price on wholesale power Texas. The residents with the variable rate power plans are charged for electricity denpending upon the amount of demand for power. When demand rises so does the price. The wholesale price for electricity has skyrocketed due to the winter storm. During the actual blackout there is less useage but before the blackout and during on times with rolling blackouts demand was peaking enough to account for the huge price increase in wholesale power.
@Mindy D I understand about price dynamics, supply vs demand, etc. That was clear from the beginning. My question to @MamaWick was: Why would your USAGE increase during periods of blackout and rolling blackouts?
